Big icky. Do not like. No thank yooouu. Even if it weren't a questionable time in American history, feels like it offers too many opportunities for bad shit to happen.
I say this knowing damn well that's hypocritical as an American, but also knowing damn well that it's why the US does it too.
You want to export weapons all over the world, but are annoyed that the buyers need some place to train their people?
Me? Not particularly. I'm more of a 'wow war as a whole is kinda dumb' type person but 🤷🏽♂️
The problem is that the value of your money is propped up by the murdering people in other countries. I'm not endorsing the system, but if you cut the military and end the whole US World Empire shit, the dollar is going to move the same way as Tesla shares would if Elon Musk was fired.
It would increase in value? Maybe we should do both...
I don't necessarily even mean we need to chop the military arm off or anything drastic like that- But we currently have 2/3 of the world's best funded militaries and I feel like a LOT could be done with the machine without even losing half of the precious 'firepower' advantage the US clings to
You're right, but that said, your healthcare is also one of the most well funded systems in the world. It's just that that funding does not reach the patients, it gets stolen along the way by insurance companies and the like.
The US is not making a choice between a well-funded military and a well-funded healthcare system, it is making a choice between an expensive healthcare system that doesn't work and a less expensive one that would work. Ironically, healthcare reform resulting in better patient outcomes, better paid doctors and nurses and such could also result in even more money being freed to pour into the military.
