I dunno, I've fractured several bones. I'd say you will know. Like dad said about karate movies, one hit, that's a broken bone, he'd be down.

When you break shit, it no longer functions. Doesn't need to be a compound fracture, even a green-stick fracture will stop you cold.

I'm not talking a clean break. I've definitely never had that (and I've been through the ringer, believe me - concussion with amnesia and a torn mcl).

I'm talking about hairline fractures that didn't debilitate me, but were likely due to the sheer amount of pain, bruising, and swelling.

Doesn't even have to be a clean break to immobilize you. My first break was my right arm at 9-yo, on my birthday. Every thought I was being a wuss, because I was. Next day the doctor popped the X-ray on the wall light, "I TOLD YOU!".

Anyway, it was just a crack, not sure how to define it medically. I believe he called it a greenstick fracture, but after looking at pics, it wasn't that bad.
