This is a friendly community for everyone who wants to share their art with the world! Everyone is welcomed π¨
Rules
AI Art: While we appreciate AI generated art, there are more appropriate communities to post that type of art to. Please keep posts to non-AI generated art only. This rule includes AI art that was then manually manipulated (e.g. drawing on top of something generated by AI).
Nudity: Nudity is and has always been a part of art, but it may be something that some users don't wish to see or cannot view in certain circumstances (e.g. at work). If your work contains nudity, please mark it as NSFW. Work that contains nudity that is not marked as NSFW will be taken down. As long as the NSFW tag is used, we welcome nude subject matter.
Spam: Please do not spam this community. Self promotion is fine if you just want people to be aware of your work, but blatant attempts at spam will result in the past being removed and possibly a ban. If you aren't sure if what you are posting is spam, please contact the moderator first.
Conduct: Be nice, and don't be a jerk. Constructive criticism is OK, but don't be mean. Encouragement is always welcomed.
Haha, thank you! Discipline, dedication, and determination go a long way when sprinkled on top of a little skill.
May I ask your medium? Out of interest.
I use Sketchbook by Autodesk on my phone mostly, every Sammy has been on my phone. I also have it on a tablet connected to a PC but I rarely drag all of that out to paint. If I could figure out a way to sync my work between them I'd probably use the PC more.
The brushes I use are oil painting brushes. I start sketching with a pencil brush, then block out colors with a simple round brush, then I use oil brushes the rest of the way.
Edit: I also add a small bit of randomness to the colors which I think is the best trick to keep it from looking flat and boring.
That's awesome. Thanks for the detailed answer. Amazing that it's on such a small device. I've got a Samsung tablet with a pen. I might have to play more with it. Keep em coming! Am loving your work. I see dip pens, and all sorts in your post history. Loving it all.
Thank you, so kind!
Dude I've only seen your paintings over the last week but even in that time the improvements have been massive. Good on you
Hell yeah, thank you!!
Hold onto your butts!
I never realised Ray Arnold was Samuel L Jackson lol
Gawd, now I can't stop thinking about him playing Hammond instead, but it's a Richard Valentine character haha
Lol right! I learned when someone asked him about it and he said he thinks Arnold is still alive somewhere with one arm doing some f-ed up stuff.
Even your first painting in the series was recognizably him. You're right about the expression, although I sure can't point to what tiny detail doesn't match.
Regardless, you've made great progress and I hope you keep sharing with us!
Thank you, and will do. I'm going to try to be a little more creative with the next one and stylize the image. Wish me luck! π€
I think it's not enough tension near the eyes, it's too smooth there
You are definitely showing improvement! What software do you use to paint digitally?
Sketchbook by Autodesk. I have it on my phone and PC and share brushes between them.
Oh wow, these are really getting better, I love that one!
Thank you, I'm trying!
You're killing it man! Good going, it's been awesome to see your progress and these are looking great!
Thank you!!
