He is surprised that he's getting bad press. That's how stupid Trump is. Not only does he think the things he's doing are good ideas, he legitimately thinks people will actually praise him for doing it.

Once he sees not everyone will he'll start censoring those who don't. He's fixated on getting things done his way regardless of how it affects anyone else.
I mean.. Why doesnt he just stop doing things that give him bad press.
If he were smart enough to do that, he probably wouldn't have bankrupted a casino twenty years ago.
Four casinos, depending on how you count his six bankruptcies.
I can think of one thing he could do that would get him lots of good press, but it's typically a TOS violation.
It's probably a TOS against something he signed after taking elon's money but firing Elon would be a really good first start
Narcissistic psychopaths gonna narcissistic psychopath.
Trump doesn't have friends; he has lackeys and people who want to gain something by getting in his favor. Others follow and agree with him out of fear of retaliation.
Carry on with the negative press about the fucking neo-Nazi filled GOP. Fuck them.
And to anyone who has eyes to see with, the press is largely sanewashing Trump and toadying to his imbeclic destructiveness.
Wouldn't be wild to say that there's some dementia and cognitive decline going on with Trump. I'm not saying this as a joke or insult, the guy is seriously behaving randomly and people around his are too scared to disagree.
It wouldn't be wild, it'd be accurate. The man has dementia. I'm on mobile and not inclined to tap out all of the indicators, but remember when he abruptly stopped speaking at a campaign rally, and just kind of swayed to his music playlist for 39 minutes, or when he described in detail the literal, giant faucet in British Columbia that he seemed to think that Canada uses to control water to the West Coast? (Or the literal dome over Israel?) Both losing track of time and losing the ability to process metaphorical speech are symptoms of dementia. Why else would his doctors have administered that cognitive test that he bragged that he aced?
Symptoms
Dementia symptoms vary depending on the cause. Common symptoms include:
Cognitive changes
Memory loss, which is usually noticed by someone else.
Problems communicating or finding words.
Trouble with visual and spatial abilities, such as getting lost while driving.
Problems with reasoning or problem-solving.
Trouble performing complex tasks.
Trouble with planning and organizing.
Poor coordination and control of movements.
Confusion and disorientation.
Psychological changes
Personality changes.
Depression.
Anxiety.
Agitation.
Inappropriate behavior.
Being suspicious, known as paranoia.
Seeing things that aren't there, known as hallucinations.
Like when no one wants to take Grandpa's car keys.
It's definitely possible. We may just be seeing his true self more though
What negative press? His supporters are all in. They're brigading every online message board and spamming about how this is great for the country.
Those are bots. The majority of MAGA supporters probably don't even remember their account passwords.
I wish I could believe this. I've made the mistake of engaging with them on MSN and it's a full blown Jonestown style cult. They are ready to lose everything for Trump.
I’m not enough of a tech person to know if all the online support is just bots, but I know of all the republicans and trumpies I’ve talked to irl most of them are nervous and not happy with trump. They’re not full blown against him yet, and most don’t understand that they’re literally doing what he voted for him to do and said he would do, but they’re getting nervous and starting to look at the people fighting against his policies for help (eg dems). Only the most hardcore, unashamed nazi trump supporters aren’t upset. So like, I don’t think all hope is lost… yet
I don't have the link, but I read somewhere that this was actually part of the Project 2025 plan, to use sockpuppet accounts and bots to drown online discourse and prevent anyone messaging that hurts the movement from picking up steam and going viral. (Althougj the strategy is probably different on platforms they control, like Twitter and maybe Reddit)
I could certainly see this being something they're doing. Flooding the zone to give the impression of support. The problem with right wing rhetoric is that it's very attractive to the uninformed. It's really really easy to be a racist, for example. It's much harder to instill empathy.
I think it's working. Right as people were finally leaving Twitter during the election season and moving to Lemmy, Blue sky, mastodon, threads, etc. The election was already in full swing. So support on the left was fractured and disconnected from the main spaces where it would reach normal folks. Twitter, Truth Social, and Facebook remained strong and their message was everywhere all the time.
What do we do to stop it though? Grass roots grow Lemmy into something respectable? By the time it gets popular enough to matter, the right will invade and corrupt it.
May they soon lose everything, especially if the fallout of their loses enriches the rest of us, or at least doesn't hurt us much. I want to bathe in the their tears.
It'd do us all a world of good if they hurried up and got to the endgame.
All he has to do is not drive the car off the cliff but noooooo
I'm not American but, from what I've seen, Republicans seem to flip sides more than a quarter in a hobos pocket during an earthquake.
Having Republicans turn on eachother is about as shocking as the fact that it will be cold in winter.
This is going to be an even more interesting time in the coming weeks. When animals are cornered, things get very ugly. And we're beyond ugly already with almost half of Project 2025 implemented already.
Fred Trump's dementia is the gift he gave his son Donald and the American people. Seriously outside of a couple people that whole family is a net drain on humanity
All he must do is explain the logic behind the decision using real economic concepts and theories. We're all keenly aware of why he isn't doing that.
"Friends"
Obviously nonsense. He doesn't have any friends.
