How about giving that to everybody who voted against you, for having to put up with four more years of your shit?

[–] AnonomousWolf@lemm.ee 37 points 7 hours ago (3 children)

Get 10k now!!

And all it will cost you is Healthcare, Education, Employee rights and self autonomy!!

What are you waiting for, don't miss out on this one time offer to get 10k!!

[–] LovableSidekick@lemmy.world 2 points 1 hour ago

10k*

*minus dealer prep, handling fees, transaction fees, documentation fees, implementation fees, conveyance and escrow fees, and miscellaneous charges and fees.

[–] Auzy@aussie.zone 4 points 2 hours ago

Yeah. As an Aussie, I can't tell you how awesome free/cheap healthcare is

Don't forget Trump also wanted to get rid of generic medicine here in Australia, so it was also cost cheap medicine too

[–] futatorius@lemm.ee 8 points 3 hours ago* (last edited 3 hours ago) (2 children)

They'll either kill them, force them onto reservations or kick them off the island.

And, since Trump is involved, the promised $10k might never get paid.

[–] LovableSidekick@lemmy.world 2 points 1 hour ago

Yeah Giuliani could probably use some of the money Trump owes him so he can pay his own legal fees.

But then all of the people in Greenland won’t work! Remember when the United States gave us all in the midst of the COVID pandemic and none of us returned to our jobs and now all live on yachts? This would be even worse!

[–] nichtburningturtle@feddit.org 118 points 14 hours ago (2 children)

Enough to barely cover your first ambulance ride.

[–] pyre@lemmy.world 41 points 14 hours ago

which you'll eventually need because you'll stop going to the doctor for anything less that being literally seconds away from death.

[–] A_norny_mousse@feddit.org 18 points 14 hours ago

Will that even be enough in Greenland, unless you live around Nuuk?

This makes a good point - a country like Greenland without strong government and a strong security net would simply become uninhabitable for normal people.

[–] cabron_offsets@lemmy.world 34 points 12 hours ago

I’m so sick of all his shit.

Fun fact denmark already sends more money than that so by accepting this deal they not only would they become american but also loose gdp. No matter how you look at it its a lose lose for greenland lol

[–] Albbi@lemmy.ca 10 points 13 hours ago (2 children)

Just FYI, loose and lose have different meanings. Kinda like desert and dessert.

[–] futatorius@lemm.ee 2 points 3 hours ago

Kinda like pedant and pendejo.

[–] AI_toothbrush@lemmy.zip 14 points 13 hours ago

Yes it was a typo. Sometimes when im tired in the morning or night my spelling gets funky. I have spelt english words in hungarian and hungarian words on english before, i think its because im bilingual.

[–] MummifiedClient5000 102 points 16 hours ago

Ohh, a promise from trump, the king of lies who famously never pays anyone.

[–] null_dot@lemmy.dbzer0.com 62 points 15 hours ago (2 children)

It seems as though they can't understand why anyone wouldn't want to be American, which is kinda nutty.

[–] surewhynotlem@lemmy.world 5 points 5 hours ago

Oh, they know this is junk. It's just noise to split focus away from what they're really doing.

[–] jonne@infosec.pub 22 points 14 hours ago (1 children)

Yeah, you'd have to pay me a lot more to even consider it, $10000 seems laughably low.

[–] GreatBlueHeron@lemmy.ca 14 points 11 hours ago* (last edited 11 hours ago) (1 children)

Yeah. Someone else suggested it might cover your first ambulance ride. I'm thinking maybe your first year health insurance?

Edit - it was just a wild guess, but here's a badly formatted table copied from an article in Forbes:

Age of member Average monthly costs

  • Age 21 $445
  • Age 27 $467
  • Age 30 $505
  • Age 40 $569
  • Age 50 $795
  • Age 60 $1,208

So, for my age, my guess was almost exactly right!

[–] InFerNo@lemmy.ml 6 points 7 hours ago (2 children)
[–] AnonomousWolf@lemm.ee 5 points 7 hours ago

You pay that per month, and still get denied healthcare.

It's a racket

[–] devfuuu@lemmy.world 5 points 7 hours ago (2 children)

Best country in the world they keep telling us.

[–] Korhaka@sopuli.xyz 2 points 1 hour ago

Land of the fee

[–] futatorius@lemm.ee 4 points 3 hours ago

Best country in the world for billionaires.

[–] wide_eyed_stupid@lemmy.world 26 points 14 hours ago (1 children)

All other idiocy aside, this number is just so fucking offensive. 10k, really? That's it?

[–] toofpic@lemmy.world 5 points 11 hours ago (1 children)

It's 65774 DKK. With 40k/mo salary average in Denmark (so like 25 after taxes),this is a few months worth of money. Ok, maybe salaries are lower because whole Greenland is in the middle of nowhere, but it's also not some war-torn African country - people don't live on five bucks a month

[–] anton@lemmy.blahaj.zone 3 points 1 hour ago

Ok, maybe salaries are lower because whole Greenland is in the middle of nowhere, [...]

Having visited Iceland, the cost of living is higher on islands with limited agriculture and high cost of imports.

[–] Fedizen@lemmy.world 17 points 14 hours ago

We're paying extra for bread to give people in greenland 10k?

[–] foggy@lemmy.world 40 points 16 hours ago (3 children)

God this guy isn't gonna stop slobbing Putin's knob is he?

Just chill, Donnie. The markets can smell your fear.

Fuck you trump.

[–] stoy@lemmy.zip 17 points 16 hours ago (2 children)

It is funny, people always seem to default to the lowest number of a big number they can think of when thinking of a big number.

"I want a hundred"

"I want a thousand"

"I want ten thousand"

"I want a hundred thousand"

"I want a million"

I realize that for Trump and the US ten thousand dollars is like throwing pennies at a poor person assuming they will be overwhelmed by seeing "ten thousand".

Same in movies, unless a guy is supposed to be super smart, they will only refer to money as:

  • 100
  • 500
  • 1000
  • 5000
  • 10000
  • 50000
  • 100000
  • 500000
  • 1000000
  • 5000000

They very seldom go, "I want 370000" unless there is a reason in the plot, never to just get more money.
