I lived closer to my favorite venues (those that put shows on I want to see) I can get tickets without stress (🖕 to ticketmaster, scalpers, etc)

I like loud but there is a thing as "too" loud. sound engineers know what they're doing. For these shows I use the foam plugs

I do buy merch. I like music. Others who do should go and be a part of your community, both physical and cultural. Make an effort!

Went to my very first concert this year, actually (Porter Robinson). It was awesome (was in the front row, too!). Now I'm hooked and I already booked tickets for two other ones this year. 🥰

The reason why I never went to any concert in my life was a mixture of having too much social anxiety and not enough money. Tackled both of these problems, but it took me a while.

Not often enough. Been to two Protomen concerts and Weird Al's first "laid back/retirement" concert. Always buy at least one piece of merch.

So less than one a year. Was going to go to the Flaming Lip's Yoshimi anniversary concert, but life got in the way and I couldn't snag tickets.

It's something my wife and I talk a lot about, but life keeps getting in the way of us getting out to them.

We get out to local opera and classical music stuff a little more often, as my wife is somewhat involved in that scene, but I assume most people don'r think of recitals as concerts.

almost never. tickets are often quite expensive and i get to hear my favorite artists at home, with quality speakers and headphones, at the volume i find pleasant.

Every month to couple of months. Depends on who's coming to town. We might go to two shows in a week and not have anyone we like come through for a while, or maybe we go to one and then another the next month. But it averages out to a bit more than every other month. Well, more I think.

Gonna see Acid Bath in June. Holy shit. And Bloody Beetroots in nine days.

Really rarely. Not many concerts that I care about happen near me

For the last seven months I have been to one concert every month. Before that it was more like one every three to four months. I usually buy shirt and/or patchs, as I usually go to metal concerts. I try to buy as much as possible directly from the bands at their concerts instead of the internet so that the money goes directly to them.

I don't at all. It's way too much noise and way too many people, I get overstimulated and have panic attacks. I think it's actually wild that people enjoy it.

Pretty much never been except the last two years. Went to the following the last two years:

• Live orchestra of Lord of the Rings music (really nice)
• Eivør (really can't recommend her enough)
• Heilung (Eivør as foreband, really amazing as always)
• Planned to go listen to the Witcher music with live orchestra later this year.

It seems that once you find your niche and place to look it's really nice!

10-15/year plus 5-10 local band shows. Begrudgingly buy merch and never put them in the dryer!!

Wear earplugs ya dopes. Tinnitus is no fun and never gets better, but doesn't have to get worse. I've found Loop earplugs the most comfortable.

A few times a year, probably around 5-6 I'd guess. Some months I end up going to more than one and other months it's quiet.

Almost always buy merch.. I have a lot of t-shirts haha.

I live in the middle of nowhere, so very rarely. However, whenever I go in work trips I check out what's happening in the region. I managed to go see Dream Theater and Devin Townsend this way. Almost went to see Staind in Austin TX, but it would've involved a pretty long drive, which I wasn't interested in.

I‘d say around 4-6 times a year, depends on which bands play near me. I buy merch about 50% of the time, mostly when i really enjoyed a band or wanted a shirt from them for a long time.

I never went too much but I enjoyed them from time to time, I tried to go only for bands I really loved and were unmissable (I still can't forgive myself for not going to a Linkin Park concert). Not sure I would enjoy now with all the crowd, plus the rising costs. I would prefer a pub or something similar to stadiums for sure.

Merch is usually super expensive so unless I can't find it anywhere else, not really.

Never. I gave up a long time ago when the bots won the ticket purchase wars and ticket prices became absurd. I don't need that level of stress.

No gigs yet this year, but going to The Wedding Present in May, and Steve Winwood in September, and ruminating about the Sex Pistols in September too.

I haven't been to a concert since COVID.

About 5 times a year, only classical music. Never bought merch.

I work them, so I never just go and attend them - the experience is so much better when you're "in". I love the interaction, quite love the babysitting part of it even.

Also when I enjoy it, I will tell them & and it always work because artists know that if the local tech found them good, that same dude who see so much stuff day-in, day-out, it (probably) means something.

You meet jerks, of course. You learn to provide them with minimal service, but clean and decent for the public. You meet fantastic people who fail to make it through to the audience, and that's heartbreaking. You learn to put 200% of yourself into a musical style you don't enjoy because the dudes on stage are killing it and the audience is loving it - who cares if Jazz Manouche is the most boring, written down and set in stone style ever.

My most stupid interaction was, at the end of a programme that included both Chopin and Steve Reich, to tell the Reich' piece clarinetist "sometimes, Chopin is boring. Especially in regard to Reich". The Guy was in agreement lol.

I hate live concerts.

When I was young it used to be like 15-20 a year, most of those local, some of those with my band. Nowadays, it's more like years apart between my visits anywhere. Not only there are way, way less happening in general (at least where I live), but family, other hobbies and keeping things quiet after busy work week has higher priority for me.

I don't often go to concerts, but when I do, I fly to New Zealand to see Bryan Adams and relive my teenage years

Not often enough

When I was young, I went to every single show that came through my hometown.

Moving to Chicago for college, I went as often as there were bands I recognized , about three times a month.

Once I became a parent that shot downhill fast, to something like once every two months. I began to work nights and could almost never go. I'm back to a first shift schedule now and excited to start hitting the scene again, even if I'm too fat for the moshpit these days.

i see local bands once or twice a year; however my wife goes more often, about every other month. i dont go to big shows. i always buy at least one thing.

i have a decent job, so i need to share the love even if i dont want anything.

Local shows. I used to go to 3 or 4 a week.

I stopped doing that around 2017 because I was getting too tired. More like two or three a month.

None anymore though. I have kids now and I moved away, there’s no venues out here.

By “concerts” do you mean a big production in a stadium or theatre/hall with seating and tickets are $80/person, that kind of thing? I’ve never been to one.

A friend always dragged me around to live music events. Never really sought them out myself.

Pretty much never these days. Don't like the crowds and noise. But in my 20s i went to concerts almost once a month, and I would buy a t-shirt at every one. Used to have large collection of bsnd shirts back in the day.

We go pretty frequently (about every other month), but less since covid and now mostly nationally touring bands. My husband often buys a T-shirt. We also like to go see live music when we're on vacation. My son toured with a band for a couple of years. I know it's hard when they're not making much money- sleeping in the van (or worse) and eating what the venue will give them. How about you?

Never. I can't stand the crowds and the loud music. And I don't appreciate the crowds singing and screaming on top of the music either. I've been to concerts like two times in my life just because others insisted so much I joined them, and the experience was exactly what I thought it would be.

I'm just not cut for them.

I don't think I bought band related merch ever, but I've seen some really cool stuff so that is something I would consider if the opportunity presented itself.
