Rules and miscellaneous:

  1. We take for granted that if you engage in this community, you understand that veganism is about the animals. You either are vegan for the animals, or you are not (this is not to say that discussions about climate/environment/health are not allowed, of course)
  2. No omni/carnist apologists. This is not a place where to ask to be hand-holded into veganims. Omnis coddling/backpatting is not tolerated, nor are /r/DebateAVegan-like threads
  3. Use content warnings and NSFW tags for triggering content

When asked why are you vegan, I usually just say its better for me, better for the environment and better for the animals who dont have suffer.

I have never converted anyone to be vegan. When I say that, it just kind of ends the conversation, which is kind of what I am shooting for.

I like a good-mannered debate every now and then, asking questions, planting seeds. I don't try to convince anyone with a single conversion (anymore). In case you like to learn some easy replies to the most annoying stuff, here is the Vegan Bullshit Bingo. Longpress a tile to read the reply.

This is barely a speech and obviously AI generated. No personal touch at all

That's a pretty convincing speech.

I personally have recently reduced my meat consumption by 90-95% autonomously because I just got tired of handling meat.

I've done it for like ten years, soaking, rinsing, chopping, tenderizing, grinding, whatever;

I just say fuck it these days and just go all veg for convenience and sanitation reasons:

Nazaryn's Vegetable Stew (for Dragons and Humans)

Total Cost: Probably $6

Servings: 8-10

  • Potatoes peeled & chopped/cubed
  • Carrots peeled & chopped/cubed
  • Portobello mushrooms washed and sliced
  • Onions peeled & sliced
  • Avocado oil
  • Tomato sauce
  • Cheap red wine
  1. Saute the mushrooms and chopped onions in avocado oil on very high heat (2 burners) until golden brown (see #2, simultaneously)
  2. Start the pot with a full jar of tomato sauce and filtered water, bring to a boil.
  3. Add in the carrots and potatoes and let boil/simmer for 20 minutes while you work on the onions.
  4. Add in the onion and mushrooms to the stew
  5. Add in the red wine, more fat of some kind (olive, avocado oil, whatever you've got) continue to simmer
  6. Basically ready to eat at this point, makes like 8-10 servings, keeps in the fridge for 5 days, can have it with bread or whatever
  7. Serve with cayenne pepper, salt, and black pepper

murder is just so tiresome, but I suppose you find a way to manage

[–] Naz@sh.itjust.works 1 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Pretty much yes, no more murder

I'm still debating what kingdom fungii/mushrooms are

[–] jerkface@lemmy.ca -2 points 2 days ago (1 children)

I suppose I should elaborate. Comparing a cow to a mushroom in the context of animal liberation and wondering if they are morally equivalent is like comparing a human slave to a mushroom in the context of human liberation. So, please, fuck off.

[–] Naz@sh.itjust.works 3 points 2 days ago

No that's actually true; I was making a joke on the 5% murder portion

I might be at 0% by next year depending on how things go

[–] jerkface@lemmy.ca -1 points 2 days ago

Oh, fuck off.
