I am watching SG1 from the beginning. I saw episodes here and there when it came out but as I'm running out of long running shows and characters to get attached to, I gave it a go. Aside from the incessant and loud background music in season 1, I find it holds well.

My suggestions are the usual suspects:

  1. The Expanse – A gripping, politically charged space opera about interplanetary conflict, featuring complex characters and high-stakes drama.
  2. The Orville – A mix of comedy and sci-fi drama.
  3. Dark Matter – A Canadian sci-fi series about a crew of amnesiac criminals aboard a spaceship, exploring identity and survival in space.
  4. Ted Lasso – A heartwarming comedy-drama about an American football coach managing a British soccer team, full of humor and positive vibes.
  5. The Night Manager – A stylish espionage thriller with a former soldier-turned-hotel manager drawn into an arms dealer’s world.
  6. Bob's Burgers – A quirky animated comedy that follows the Belcher family running a burger joint, known for its clever humor and heartwarming moments.
  7. Letterkenny – A fast-paced comedy about the quirky residents of a small Canadian town, blending absurd humor with unique characters.
  8. Killjoys – A loud, action-packed Canadian sci-fi series about bounty hunters navigating a chaotic, lawless planetary system.
  9. Silo – The second season was slow until the final episodes, but the first season was great.

Edit: I forgot

Le Bureau des Légendes – Smart, layered French espionage drama with deep moral ambiguity.

Slow Horses – Gritty and darkly funny spy series about MI5 rejects who still get the job done

Killjoys

I looked through some of the film stills on IMDb for Killjoys and it was kinda fun to recognize so many faces from The Expanse.
@thejoker954@lemmy.world mentioned The Eternaut, and you look like you enjoy good tv-scifi, so you might want to consider giving that a go as well.

Sweet, I'll check it out, thank you

You had me until Silo. I couldn't get past more than a few episodes of that before realizing I was just watching a less energetic and self-aware version of Fallout.

Oh, yes, you're right, I forgot Fallout! Same premise, I enjoyed both very much though I found them quite different. I enjoy anything with Ella Purnell. Arcane is another one I forgot!

Watched the latest season of Black Mirror. It was pretty good.

Just binged 'The Eternaut' last night.

I thought it was pretty good. A good amount of apparent plot conveniences, but still enjoyable. I tried watching the dubbed version, but quickly found the line delivery too flat.

I have this in my que, good to know. Yes, I read the dubbed version misses the mark.

Watched season 2 of FROM. It was a bit interesting but I'm still very much expecting to get LOSTed

First episode of The Bondsman was ok.

What we do in the shadows continues is excellence (and weirdness)

Dune Prophecy was.. interesting but also kind of unimpactful. I'll watch season 2 probably.

Tried watching Black Summer but it was absolutely awful, shame because citizen Z was ok.

Tried watching Kingdom but so much of it is in the dark, my HDR TV has about 3 lit pixels (and nighttime only zombies kind of killed my enthusiasm)

I felt the same way about "From" however we do actualy start to get some answers in season 3 so I've become cautiously optimistic.

That's not to say that the final answer won't still fall flat at the end.

I recently discovered Taxi, sitcom from the 80s(?) and I'm absolutely loving it

Started season 5 of 'You', the romantic Dexter knock-off, which I thought was wrapped years ago with season 4, nice surprise.

Recently I've binged "Common Side Effects" which is yet another Mike Judge banger. I'm not sure if there's a season 2 planned, but season 1 can definitely be enjoyed as a standalone with how it ends.
A show I was recommended randomly was "The Eternaut". It's a 6 episode Argentinian Netflix show based on some pretty old comic books. The series is excellent "War of the worlds" style scifi. It has been renewed for season 2.
I don't know too much about Argentina, but the author was half German and he was part of the Montoneros guerilla movement when the military junta was in power in the 70s, so that's a whole rabbit hole one can go down - very interesting.

Today I watched the first three episodes of the new Black Mirror season and while Common People and Bete Noire were good but pretty standard, Hotel Reverie somehow hit every note for me. Mid film I just thought Wow this is brillant! I was so invested I stood up at the shooting scene and I surprised myself by saying a high pitched and very happy „Aw!“ when the credits rolled. And my god Emma Corrin is excellent! Maybe I was simply enchanted by them and the episode wasn’t so great.

Someone here recommended Righteous Gemstones to me... thanks so much I really like it! I'm really pleased.

I tried watching S2 of the gilded age but just like s1 it's gorgeous but just bland. Just gave up.
