Yeah, maybe a bit more on the headline would help this out.
"DOJ opens inquiry into new WA law requiring clergy to report abuse". Trump is an active proponent in helping the church cover up child abuse.

"DOJ opens inquiry into new WA law requiring clergy to report abuse". Trump is an active proponent in helping the church cover up child abuse.
The Republican state reps in my area all voted in favor of protecting child abusers and child rapists. They're in favor of it too.
Can't keep the religious whackos on-side if you don't let them keep molesting kids.
Trump is an active proponent in helping the church cover up child abuse.
Perhaps that's one reason he posted this...
Well yeah, child predators tend to support each other.
Assistant Attorney General Harmeet K. Dhillon of the Justice Department’s Civil Rights Division said in the news release that the law demands Catholic priests “violate their deeply held faith in order to obey the law.”
Catholicism explicitly demands child abuse, they're even admitting it. Religion is a blight.
If anyone was wondering why so many religious leaders assault children. Churches are pedo sanctuaries.
State Senate Bill 5375, signed by Gov. Bob Ferguson into law Friday, adds members of the clergy to the list of professionals who are mandated reporters
In a news release, the Justice Department called the law “anti-Catholic,”
Honestly reads like The Onion.
Honestly reads like The Onion.
Nope...
It's just as "anti-Catholic" to hold pedos to account as it is "anti-Semitic" to hold Netan-yayhoo to account.
More human tragedy has been conducted in the name of religion than probably any other cause in the history of humans.
🤦♀️ 🙄 🖕 🖕
So much for State's Rights I guess. State's rights only matter if you want to discriminate. If you want to help people and promote actual justice, that's a bridge too far and your State's rights must be limited! Such a bunch of fucking dirty hypocrites who want to allow not just child abuse, but any kind of crime, to be hidden by the church in service of giving criminals religious absolution.
"I am still a good person! God forgives me! I don't need to pay my debt to society!" What a crock of shit. Just an excuse to allow monsters to run amok in society.
Calling a law that requires clergy to report child sexual abuse anti-catholic is very telling.
Why would they exempt Reconciliation/Confession when they don't exempt doctor patient confidentiality? Is there something about religious people there requires more subterfuge?
Also, are rich elites actually going to confession? If so, is it to unburden their conscience or to brag?
So the Trump DOJ believes abuse and neglect by Catholic clergy is part of the Catholic faith and making clergy mandatory reporters violates free expression of religion?
Someone ELI5 how doing this "investigation" could in anyway be spun in a good light.
