people seem to think PRATT was good on parks and rec, but he was literally shoe-horned in through nepotism by his then wife. he seems pretty monotonous, and his current support of right wingers is extra cringey and then him whining about not getting leadership roles in movies, it seems to be a trend amongst conservative actors they have a fetish for it. sinese is another one, but hes been quiet about his outright support of right wingers, we know he virtue signals for veterans, but he doesnt denounce the gop consistent attack on VA funding, which means he does support the gop omre than vets, and recently he was giving a reason why he isnt acting anymore in a yt video, we know the real reason, you wouldve been ousted for being a trumper anyways.

Everything with Keanu Reeves

Common in Silo. It feels like he wandered in off the street and gets prompted for every line. Modern wardrobe and affect in a post-apocalyptic setting. Completely flat and out of tune with the world. Up against Tim Robbins and Iain Glen, it's just more glaring.

I really have enjoyed the show so far but oh my gosh you are so right. He completely breaks immersion every time he’s in a scene.

Alexa Davalos as Juliana in Man in the High Castle. She was like a black hole of charisma, absolutely draining every scene she was in. I found many of the characters extremely compelling, but as soon as they meet Juliana everything sucks.

I gotta go with my man Ice-T on Law & Order: SVU. While the writing does him no favors in making his character seem slow on the uptake, his acting usually consists of loudly talking in a monotone that feels like it was too loudly mixed in ADR even though it's not.

and hes anti-vaxxer and trumper now too. he still dresses like hes still ont eh street as a cop. munch was better off with a goody two shoes than him.

Yo, you telling me this dude gets off on little girls with pigtails?

Yeah, Ice... he's a pedophile. You work in the sex crimes division. You're gonna have to get used to that.

[–] klu9@lemmy.ca 9 points 3 days ago

And he's had 25 years to develop and improve his portrayal of that character, still all the emotional conveyance of a breeze block.

(Will still watch 90s action movies with him, though.)

I dunno, he's gotten better over time.

Is he Brando? Nah, not even close, but he's put in effort into the role, and it shows.

Nothing for me will beat Geri Halliwells walk on bit on SATC. I'm cringing thinking about it

Jim Caviezel in Person of Interest.

One of the better shows of the last 20 years, and horrifyingly prescient about the surveillance nightmares therein, but he's an ambulatory plank of wood.

What's worse is that many of his co-star are putting in some of their best work.

[–] Ledericas@lemm.ee 2 points 1 day ago (1 children)

consider hes a looney christian buddying up with gibson in that christian series, im not surprised.

[–] dethedrus@lemmy.dbzer0.com 2 points 21 hours ago (1 children)

In real life he's a covid denying, Qanon believing, Trump loving, Nat-C dominionist.

[–] Ledericas@lemm.ee 2 points 14 hours ago* (last edited 14 hours ago)

yea, hes buddy buddy with mel gibson and making that circle jerk sequel of passion of the christ.

Ruby Rose in batwoman was pretty bad.

This lady has to be my pet peeve most hated actress. She is just, a really poor actress and as far as I can tell has only her reasonable level of attractiveness going for her and rode into all those supporting roles on the high of the new butch lesbo biker trope.

[–] lordnikon@lemmy.world 5 points 3 days ago (2 children)

Yeah i don't have a problem with her as a person or her orientation. She just seems like the standard nepobaby. That got setup to do everything from modeling to music to acting. I don't know about the other stuff but her acting is flat like she is always reading her lines from a card just off screen her face flat all the time. Comparing that to someone like Charlize Theron where in some roles I can't even tell that it's her i just see her character.

[–] Jack_Burton@lemmy.world 2 points 2 days ago

Charlize Theron and Gary Oldman could very well be playing most roles for all we know

[–] GregorGizeh@lemmy.zip 3 points 3 days ago (1 children)

Oh yeah don't misunderstand me either, I don't know or care what her actual sexual orientation is, do as/who you like of course.

I'm just incredibly bored by the movie trope that she embodies so well, and am also annoyed she apparently makes no effort ever to break out of that mold. Girl got no range at all

[–] lordnikon@lemmy.world 1 points 3 days ago

Yeah apart of me wonders if it's just type casting that she can't break out of. But it's on her to not try to push the boundaries of what she can do. Jack Quaid has the same problem but at least he is trying to break out of it even if the results are mixed.

The US version of Ghosts, I think a lot of the jokes are pretty good but man the line reads from the main couple can be really painful at times.

[–] gramie@lemmy.ca 2 points 2 days ago

I watched the entire British run of Ghosts before I was aware that there was an American one. I have no interest in watching it, because there's no way it could be an improvement.

Scott Grimes, J. Lee, Halston Sage, and Anne Winters on The Orville. Every single one of them does amateurish line readings that make it hard to suspend disbelief. I still like the show overall, though.

Captain Janeway on Voyager. I really think I absolutely hate Kate Mulgrew as an actor.

[–] reddig33@lemmy.world 1 points 10 hours ago* (last edited 10 hours ago)

I can see why her take on the part might not be to your taste. Personally she’s my favorite of the captains though. I like her no nonsense attitude, and i can totally see her as a leader. I think Mulgrew did great in the part.

[–] Ledericas@lemm.ee 2 points 1 day ago* (last edited 14 hours ago)

nah shes better than the other voyager actor that was not suppose to be janeway. i think other woman was bujol that was suppose to be janeway, katheryn had better flair than the other lady.
