Moderator Guidelines

Moderator Guidelines

  • Don’t be mean to users. Be gentle or neutral.
  • Most moderator actions which have a modlog message should include your username.
  • When in doubt about whether or not a user is problematic, send them a DM.
  • Don’t waste time debating/arguing with problematic users.
  • Assume the best, but don’t tolerate sealioning/just asking questions/concern trolling.
  • Ask another mod to take over cases you struggle with, if you get tired, or when things get personal.
  • Ask the other mods for advice when things get complicated.
  • Share everything you do in the mod matrix, both so several mods aren't unknowingly handling the same issues, but also so you can receive feedback on what you intend to do.
  • Don't rush mod actions. If a case doesn't need to be handled right away, consider taking a short break before getting to it. This is to say, cool down and make room for feedback.
  • Don’t perform too much moderation in the comments, except if you want a verdict to be public or to ask people to dial a convo down/stop. Single comment warnings are okay.
  • Send users concise DMs about verdicts about them, such as bans etc, except in cases where it is clear we don’t want them at all, such as obvious transphobes. No need to notify someone they haven’t been banned of course.
  • Explain to a user why their behavior is problematic and how it is distressing others rather than engage with whatever they are saying. Ask them to avoid this in the future and send them packing if they do not comply.
  • First warn users, then temp ban them, then finally perma ban them when they break the rules or act inappropriately. Skip steps if necessary.
  • Use neutral statements like “this statement can be considered transphobic” rather than “you are being transphobic”.
  • No large decisions or actions without community input (polls or meta posts f.ex.).
  • Large internal decisions (such as ousting a mod) might require a vote, needing more than 50% of the votes to pass. Also consider asking the community for feedback.
  • Remember you are a voluntary moderator. You don’t get paid. Take a break when you need one. Perhaps ask another moderator to step in if necessary.

This is the ideal female body. You may not like it, but this is what peak performance looks like.

[–] bjoern_tantau@swg-empire.de 87 points 1 week ago

Of course it's peak performance. Even my phone can render this at hundreds of FPS.

What's so funny about that is that her breasts were an accident. One dev entered a wrong number into the polygon for her breasts and it got that result. Everyone found it so hilarious they kept it in.

Wait until they hear about women's mustaches and armpits! When I used to sneak looks at Playboys as a kid, bush was all the rage. Now at 33 as a gay man, bush is still rage. I love hair on everyone!

[–] Stamets@lemmy.world 66 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago) (1 children)

Oh god yes. As a gay man? Give me ALL OF THE FUCKING HAIR. I wanna get carpet burn while sucking dick, thank you very much. No /s tag because I'm not being sarcastic.

[–] ShinkanTrain@lemmy.ml 32 points 1 week ago (1 children)

This guy fucks on a shag carpet.

I think that's why the british/Austin Powers call it shagging

[–] notabot@lemm.ee 51 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Actually, you have that backwards, you see, the act was known as 'shagging', from the old english 'shagadelic' meaning excellent or enjoyable, long before the carpet existed. The style of carpet was found to be ideal for 'shagging' on, especially in groups, as the long fibres reduced slipping. Thus it became known as 'shag pile' due to the piles of 'shaggers' often using them.

My wife is the first woman i have properly been with, and i find myself staring at her moustache when she's watching the TV and unaware.

Im in no way turned off by it or anything like that, it's just fascinating to me somehow. Like 6 years I've been with this woman and I still can't stop.

You'd think the literal apocalypse happening would be an acceptable justification for not being dolled up 100% of the time, yet here we are with Aloy.

And honestly, she looks pretty good for someone socially ostracized her whole life, not having a mom, and roughing it her whole life in a cabin that doesn't have running water. It could be a whole lot worse than just peach fuzz 🤷‍♀️

[–] spectre@lemmy.world 3 points 6 days ago (1 children)

tbf the apocalypse did not stop her from shaping her brows and wearing makeup

[–] MystValkyrie@lemmy.blahaj.zone 2 points 6 days ago* (last edited 6 days ago)

Yep, most male gamers who take issue with Aloy can't tell she has some light coverage, and then criticize her for not wearing makeup and being ugly, which is amusing. And sad too, that even wearing makeup doesn't satisfy their impossible standards because it's still not enough makeup.

Maybe Aloy plucks? Some people just have great eyebrows without having to do anything, and I am jealous of those people.

For the PS6 re-release they'll include the smell-o-vision of a person from a world that has never heard of soap, deodorant, or toilet paper.

[–] Swedneck@discuss.tchncs.de 2 points 6 days ago

people would literally kill scalpers to get their hands on the hardware

[–] ICastFist@programming.dev 21 points 1 week ago

So everyone will be forced to smell a typical anime convention

What's interesting is that the ones who don't have peach fuzz are men who shave. If a perfectly smooth face is what you find attractive, you want a man's face.

you know... this was essentially my experience getting my first glasses. So much hair EVERYWHERE on EVERYONE. what if OOP just needs glasses?

also seeing individual blades of grass far away was insane, felt like a superpower.

It also makes me wonder, do the people who post stuff like this not have mothers or sisters? Any women in their lives they might see on a casual day without a fresh shave or makeup?

[–] Cossty@lemmy.world 24 points 1 week ago (3 children)

They never hug their mother because they think it's embarrassing and gay.

This pisses me off on a personal level. I dated a girl with a small peach fuzz mustache and she was the sweetest person I ever went out with. That peach fuzz stache is part of what made her so sweet and so adorable.

I rarely have any encounters with genuinely toxic gamers, but I remember one time a troll being rude to everyone and was bragging how great he is with having more points while I have zero (we are just few minutes into the game). I responded that he has zero sex in real life. He didn't reply for a long time until he had enough and quit after telling me to kill myself. I think he quit because I eventually outscored him by a wide margin. Lol funniest gaming moment I had. I haven't encountered the player again because he probably got banned.

These incels blame everyone but themselves. And the thing is, I give them the benefit of the doubt, because many of them are probably neurodivergent and don't even realise it so they did not get the necessary help. I am not saying it is the person's fault for being neurodivergent, but many incels who happen to be one easily lash out because they just don't realise they are neurodivergent. I have a family member who was diagnosed only later in life, which explains a lot when we were growing up.

Mammals?! With hair?! Absolutely not.

[–] Zink@programming.dev 27 points 1 week ago (12 children)

Fellas, is it gay to be into women who are also mammals?

I think she is so fucking gorgeous which is unfortunate because she isn’t real

And B. If she was real she would be somewhere far away, taken and busy

And C. Probably zero chances anyhow even if she was somehow single and looking

D. If somehow she was interested then it would probably turn out she is batshit insane or that my flavor of insane is incompatible with somebody else flavour of insane

E. Turns out it wasn’t her I wanted but her eyes and eyebrows and dimply lines for myself and I turn into a face stealer monster

F. I have successfully warped my consciousness into a high tech imitation android body of alloy however everyone I know is long dead and I am alone among the ruins of humanity hubris

Wait
