Hit a PR on deadlift today: 455 lbs.

Online 1RM calculators had me estimated at 460 lb max, so I tried for 465 and failed, but came back and did 455 lbs.

Pretty happy with it overall. Not sure if I'll hit 500 by the end of summer, a goal I set for myself about 3 months ago, but I could at least probably get close.

Damn dude that's pretty great, congrats. How often are you deadlifting?

Once a week, usually. Just slow and steady progress over the last few months, probably the most consistent I've ever been over any 6-month period in the 25+ years since I started going to the gym.

Went ahead and did Week 5 of my 5/3/1 journey, still fatigued from testing my 1RM on deadlift. Switched up the order of my 3-day routine to be Squat-Bench-Deadlift on W-Th-F instead of my normal Deadlift-Bench-Squat on M-T-W.

So on my AMRAP sets this week, targeting 3+ reps:

Squat: 4 x 320 lbs. Lower back was still fatigued from max effort deadlifts 2 days before, and I felt myself starting to get stuck at the bottom of the lift.

Bench: 9 x 170 lbs. Felt pretty good, making good progress on bench.

Deadlift: 3 x 365 lbs. Definitely still recovering from my 1RM on Monday.

Tactical Barbell Grey Man w5d1

Bench press 4 x 8 @ 180lbs
Leg curl 4 x 12 @ 55lbs
Leg extension 4 x 12 @90lbs
Dip 4 x 12 @ 210 bw
Incline dumbbell bench 4 x 12 @ 45lbs
Pull up 4 x 12 @ 210lbs bw

I had to take last week off, It felt really good to get back into the gym and lift. This is my first time trying leg extensions and leg curls on my new bells of steel adjustable bench, It's real sturdy I like it a lot

It's been a few weeks since this comment. You still doing Tactical Barbell? I'm looking to switch to incorporate some conditioning work more formally after Labor Day (which will be my testing day to lock in my powerlifting totals before turning to other fitness goals).

What do you like or dislike about this program?

Hey yeah I'm still running it but I had some life stuff come up the past few weeks so been a little bit sporadic. I'm a big fan of it, I like the high frequency, compound lift based full body split, I like the baked in conditioning, I like the rep range and intensity which is a little further away from maxing out keeping my joints nice and happy. I think for the average guy that's not trying to max out hypertrophy it can definitely be great choice.
