Women only trans inclusive This is an inclusive community for all things women. Whether you're here for make up tips, feminism or just friendly chit chat, we've got you covered.

Rules…

  1. Women only… trans women are women, and transphobic or gender critical talk isn’t allowed. Anyone under the trans umbrella (e.g. non-binary, bigender, agender) is free to decide whether a women's community is a good fit for them.
  2. Don’t be a dick. No personal attacks, no aggression, play nice.
  3. Don’t hate on groups, hatefilled talk about groups is not allowed. Ever.
  4. No governmental politics, so no talk of Trump actions etc. We recommend Feminism@beehaw.org for that, but here is an escape from it.
  5. New accounts or users with few comments may have their posts removed to prevent spam and bad-faith participation.

This weekend I need to travel for a post-op appointment, and in the meantime I need to get an extension on my leave at work approved, and ideally get a clearer sense of what date I will be released back to work.

Oh crikey that's stressful. Remember we got your back if you need us!

Several game nights with friends and my partner and I are going to some concerts on Friday. Really looking forward to it.

Oh nice what games are you going to play?

[–] dandelion@piefed.blahaj.zone 2 points 1 week ago

I've been doing some factsheets on various topics, I really want to finish my one on sibling abuse. Been meaning to for a few weeks!

I've got a load of work to do on a case I really want to make headway into that this week.

Also really want to train with my friend! We always have a blast doing it

[–] dandelion@piefed.blahaj.zone 3 points 1 week ago (1 children)

that's cool, how do you use the factsheets?

[–] LadyButterfly@piefed.blahaj.zone 2 points 1 week ago (1 children)

I'm a dv outreach worker so it's helpful for me to refer to when dealing with cases. I know what the research says I should look out for

That must be an emotionally heavy job, hope it's just as rewarding as well!

It is both! You have to accept a lot of losses but the wins feel great

I need to detail my car before I drive to a client site tomorrow. Fortunately, one of my kids is super into car cleaning and wants to help.

I selflessly offer my car to be cleaned by your child. Pure selflessness in my part obviously

Going to visit a new acquaintance on her farm tomorrow and there will be donkeys I think - I'll brave the awful heat to scratch some long fluffy ears and I'm curious to get to know a new person. There's a lake nearby and I might go for a swim. Someone was talking about a pool party happening later this week - I'm a bit panicked about the idea but apparently it's supposed to be really small and quiet and only women I know.

It all fits nicely into my prepping for "more shit hitting the fan" community activities - networking with women and hopefully finding some land I can take care of. This is all new and exciting!

I'll also be lazily trying to find more money making work, but not too worried about it this week.

I demand donkey photos! I love animals. Your prepping is a great idea, how are you doing it?

@klemptor@startrek.website @LadyButterfly@piefed.blahaj.zone What a day! Not a single donkey pic was taken today - there's one very old donkey and I didn't meet him (yet). I did meet a very nice person who I immediately got along with. I had no idea she was actually looking for someone to share the place, and how beautiful the place is! A running stream where I can mount my ram pumps, trees with lots of fruit to harvest and process, and plenty of space to have my own piece of soil to care for - looks like a place I would like to call home and where my skills are needed and welcome. Very excited now and still recovering from the surprise. Car had to get towed on the way back (again) after losing all its water, but who cares - most probably it's a quick fix and nothing serious got damaged. I'll return there next week, to hopefully meet the donkey and agree to a longer stay for next month to see if we get along, wish me luck!

So one part of the prepping is having a place to put some good work in and get some good food out. There's no shortage of farms looking for volunteers around here, but not all of them are well run and have good conditions, so this is a very lucky find. The other part of prepping is the community networking, bringing people together who can support each other - so finding a place not far from the community I already know and have been connecting with is even more lucky. Goddess be blessed, it was so much more than I expected to have done by Tuesday. Wish me luck for this to work out!

That sounds pretty much perfect! You click with the person which us a BIG part of it. The place is beautiful with it's own stream, fruit, and soil. The soil gives you options for the future so you could have your own project with it. It's a really lucky find. The location sounds great as well it's near the community you're building, which is a big win. Really excited for you let us know how it goes!

Wow! Despite no donkey pics, it sounds like this was a really fantastic visit for you. I'm wishing you all the luck!! 🤍

[–] klemptor@startrek.website 2 points 1 week ago

This all sounds amazing. I agree you must share donkey pics!

We're having my husband's family over for a BBQ this coming weekend, so I'm deep cleaning my house. (My house is always super clean but I'm neurotic!) So that's one thing I want to do. I got most of the downstairs done yesterday, minus polishing the wood floors. Working on the upstairs today.

But on a more fun note, I got a new workbench for my woodworking project, so this week I'd like to finish building the second chair for my pergola area and get them both stained. The workbench should help make the pre-sanding step go faster!

Also I've been pushing myself out of my comfort zone with eye looks lately. I'm thinking I want to try something orange and pink - sort of sunset inspired. These are the palettes I'm thinking of playing with - anyone want to suggest which colors to use?

[–] LadyButterfly@piefed.blahaj.zone 4 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Oh they are GORGEOUS colours! Witg orange I'd start with the mildest and go from there, but the pink is a harder call... what's your skin tone?

[–] klemptor@startrek.website 2 points 6 days ago (1 children)

I'm embarrassed to admit I've never completely figured out my skin tone! I'm pretty pale and I guess neutral-to-cool. Definitely not warm (which is why I don't use orange very often) but I can never tell if I'm actually neutral or cool!

I don't know mine either. If you're not pinky toned, then I think you can use any of the pinks but I'd start with mid range ones. Pale pinks can just be invisible 🫥

I got gifted an appointment to a sensory deprivation tank and it's scheduled for this week! :3

Im super excited, been wanting to do this for a long time!

[–] schmorpel@slrpnk.net 3 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Report back to us, I'm curious as to how that might feel!

[–] SoftestSapphic@lemmy.world 2 points 1 day ago

I posted an update on the other user here if you're still curious :3

[–] klemptor@startrek.website 3 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Ooh let us know how it is! I've always wanted to do that.

[–] SoftestSapphic@lemmy.world 3 points 1 day ago (2 children)

Just went yesterday, it was awesome!

I did the full sensory deprivation, no sound/light while floating for 1hr

At first my tinnitus became overwhelming, but after it died down I just started thinking about random things and my body drifted away.

It felt like sleeping but being totally awake, it's called a theta brainwave state.

Before i knew it the music came on to tell me an hr was up, it legit felt like 10min but I was in there for more than an hr lol

[–] schmorpel@slrpnk.net 1 points 12 hours ago (1 children)

Do you expect some longer term benefits? Are you planning to repeat the experience?

[–] SoftestSapphic@lemmy.world 1 points 4 hours ago

I didn't know what to expect. I was curious about trying it ever since I learned about sensory deprivation.

I went on Saturday and today I'm still feeling more relaxed than usual, I didn't even have my usual morning nausea waking up for work today :3

I'll definitely go again. This was a bday gift, and individual appointments are like 80$, so probably not for a while, but I want to do it again for sure!

[–] klemptor@startrek.website 1 points 19 hours ago (1 children)

That sounds amazing and super relaxing! Man I really want to give it a try. I'm glad you had a good time!

[–] SoftestSapphic@lemmy.world 2 points 17 hours ago

It was super relaxing. At some point, I even got nauseous from my stomach muscles relaxing and untightening, but it passed fast.

I've been feeling way more relaxed all day, too. I would totally recommend it! :3

I just want to polish the scenario I'm running for my D&D group Wednesday.
