After reading the piece and seeing no explanation for why Farrell would be so angry, I found this quote from his wife about what happened:

"He felt that the stage volume had been extremely loud and his voice was being drowned out by the band," Etty wrote in her post. "Perry had been suffering from tinnitus and a sore throat every night. But when the audience in the first row, started complaining up to Perry cussing at him that the band was planning too loud and that they couldn’t hear him, Perry lost it."

It was so loud but he could still hear the fan complaining.

So he started a fight with his band member.

Don't abuse drugs kids.

Back in the day, one of the things JA was famous for was being ear-bleedingly loud in concert, so there's a certain to hear him complain about the volume.

TBH, I'm surprised to hear these guys still around and touring.

The last few years have been great for nostalgia tours.

This should be up to the sound man anyway. I'd assume this gig was big enough where stage volume meant almost nothing compared to that of the PA, in ear monitors, or stage monitors.

Not really a band anymore. Just a bunch of dudes trying to make some cash

I'm not surprised to see this.

Not that I expected a suit necessarily - just that with Jane's Addiction and especially with Perry Farrell, nothing surprises me.

Nothing’s shocking about this

This is sad. Can’t believe he hit Dave again backstage. I wanted to hear what Perry has to say, but he was probably told by his publicist not to.

I used to DJ with a big group that threw parties and we had Perry Ferrell DJ at a New Year’s party, and he sucked ass. Like every mix was a complete train wreck, enough that the audience noticed and would stop dancing. He was oblivious to his sucking skills. It was quite bewildering.
