I've been fairly good. Warrior (2019) got cancelled, but it did get 3 seasons. The Peripheral got destroyed by the writers strike (one of the most notable casualties). I've watched other things that got cancelled, but those are amongst the most notable to me.

They're also dumping the upcoming season all at once. I expect unless it really hits big it's going to be cancelled again. Again. Again. Again.

I just keep it in Sonarr and I’m sometimes surprised by new episodes appearing 😀

The OA and Sense8 for me. I don't even start any Netflix shows any more unless they've completed their run without being cancelled on a cliffhanger.

agree with OA. Never started Sens8 but also made the mistake with Kaos recently. And GLOW was another casualty of the pandemic.

[–] FooBarrington@lemmy.world 1 points 3 weeks ago

Man, KAOS was soooo good

[–] harsh3466@lemmy.ml 1 points 3 weeks ago

KAOS at least had a clean ending for season one. Still pissed AF at Netflix but what's new.

Add GLOW to that list. That was the last time I had a Netflix subscription and will never go back.

Just pirate content. The streaming wars has fucked consumers hard.

[–] LittleTarsier@lemmy.ca 1 points 3 weeks ago

Same shows for me. I cancelled my Netflix subscription in protest.

I seem to be pretty lucky. I looked through the shows I've kept track of and only 3 stood out: Perception, Mindhunter, and She-Hulk. Just kidding on She-Hulk. Real third one is Inside Job.

Probably not the only ones. I don't track everything I watch, especially if the series is already finished. And I excluded things, like The Expanse, that never actually finished the story but had time to shine for several seasons.

Happens a lot with anime though. So much so that a show that does finish the manga feels more like an exception. I wouldn't even begin a list because it would quickly turn into a book.

Worse than cancelled is the forever limbo. For example The Orville isn't cancelled... It was a three year wait between season 2 & 3, which to be fair Covid happened, but it got a new subtitle like it was ready for a relaunch... But now it's been three years since that season and nothing... But not cancelled. But the cast thinks it is.

Cancelled is a bummer, but forever limbo just keeps giving me hope.

i thought i read production was supposed to start in early 2025.

[–] MimicJar@lemmy.world 5 points 3 weeks ago

The last I heard was from April 2025 where it seems nothing has happened yet. I'd love to be wrong and know that production is happening.

I liked Firefly.

[–] AnUnusualRelic@lemmy.world 5 points 3 weeks ago

I just assume they'll all get cancelled.

Except for the European ones, as they tend to manage to tell a story in a given set of episodes and stop once the story is done. Although the US narrarive style's gangrene and it's endless flow of seasons is starting to appear here and there with increasing frequency, so that may soon be a thing of the past.

Wayne not getting a second series should have landed someone in The Hague, and Korgoth of Barbaria never getting a series is plain criminal

[–] WarlockLawyer@lemmy.world 2 points 3 weeks ago

Greatest fucking pilot and just left alone forever

[–] hemko@lemmy.dbzer0.com 2 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

I feel unlucky with rings of power, I just heard they're making 3rd season instead of cancelling 😭

[–] lepinkainen@lemmy.world 4 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

It’s just fine as LOTR fanfic.

[–] hemko@lemmy.dbzer0.com 4 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

A fan you would expect to know the source material

[–] lepinkainen@lemmy.world 4 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

In my mind the point of fanfic is to do “what if” scenarios, not follow the canon to the t.

YMMV.

Say "Hire fans" when something is bad Say "This is fan fiction" when something is bad

Can't win with these people

[–] superduperpirate@lemmy.world 2 points 3 weeks ago

I really enjoyed Teenage Bounty Hunters and the live action Cowboy Bebop. Thanks Netflix :-(

[–] scytale@piefed.zip 1 points 3 weeks ago

I haven’t been unlucky enough with cancellations, but there are a few that are in purgatory, not officially cancelled but no news on getting anything else in the near future. Mindhunter, Extracurricular, and Kingdom to name a few.

[–] IWW4@lemmy.zip 1 points 3 weeks ago

Is that what happened to The Peripheral? It was great until the show introduced Bob the assassin and then it just went to shit.

As far as “luck with cancellations” it is what it is.

[–] AceFuzzLord@lemmy.zip 1 points 3 weeks ago

Considering the majority of what I watch anymore is old, pretty damn lucky because I at least know when it's gonna end.

Though, the worst luck I had was with this one show from 2018, Summer Camp Island, which was part of the HBO Cartoon Network fiasco, if I remember correctly, so I had no idea whether the final season was gonna even be released ( luckily it did ).
