A fucking disgrace. Fuck Ashli Babbit. Fuck the Air Force. And Fuck Trump.

[–] Pat_Riot@lemmy.today 176 points 20 hours ago (1 children)

You mean Ashli Babbitt the violent insurrectionist who was killed while attempting to attack Congress in direct violation of the oath she swore?

[–] BarneyPiccolo@lemmy.today 106 points 20 hours ago (1 children)

Ashli Babbitt the Traitor.

[–] teamevil@lemmy.world 21 points 17 hours ago

Ashli Babbitt the treasonous cunt.

[–] nixfreak@sopuli.xyz 13 points 14 hours ago

Really military honors of treason ? WTF

[–] Bonus@piefed.social 16 points 16 hours ago* (last edited 16 hours ago)

I know an air force vet with expertise in Russian surveillance who has been working for US intelligence agencies after their service, going on four decades now. I see so much through this person's perspective, not because they can tell me anything, but because I'm forced to be concerned for this friend every single day. This is absolutely a purposeful slap in the face and a declaration they want to take over the country illegally, whether we wake up and realize it or not. This regime is terrorizing its true patriots even just by constantly threatening their livelihoods.

[–] inclementimmigrant@lemmy.world 23 points 17 hours ago (1 children)

Celebrating literal traitors now...how pathetic.

[–] mateofeo85@lemmy.world 6 points 16 hours ago

Just like confederate statues.

[–] BrianTheeBiscuiteer@lemmy.world 73 points 20 hours ago (2 children)

If they bury her in Arlington or give her any kind memorial plaque or stone that cannot stand. A lot of things I'm willing to let go of as a permanent scar on our history, but we don't bury Nazis next to people that fought the Nazis.

[–] prole@lemmy.blahaj.zone 8 points 18 hours ago

I imagine there's already plenty of them in there

[–] Chozo@fedia.io 6 points 20 hours ago

I dunno, I think it's about time they installed a urinal in Arlington.

[–] oxjox@lemmy.ml 49 points 19 hours ago (2 children)

Babbitt, an Air Force veteran, was shot and killed by law enforcement during the Jan. 6, 2021, Capitol riot as she attempted to climb through a barricaded door to the Speaker’s lobby near the House chamber.

In May, the government agreed to pay Babbitt’s family nearly $5 million as part of a settlement.

The lawsuit alleged that the officer, who was not in uniform, failed to deescalate the situation and did not give her any warnings or commands before opening fire.

Remember this when the conservatives scream about "rioters" and the "thin blue line". Fucking traitors and hypocrites.

[–] azimir@lemmy.ml 46 points 19 hours ago (1 children)

She was literally climbing through broken window of a door leading to the safe room members of the House of Representatives were sheltering in. The HEAD of the country was being pursued by a mob that had erected a scaffold and noose in front of the building.

Somehow it was the officer's job to deescalate the situation outnumbered 100:1 with a yelling riotous mob bashing in the doors? Yup, it's all about the officer there.

Conservatives, in the end, only care about owning others and power over others. Always realize they don't like or care about your well being. They only play nice with society and a republic when forced to.

[–] jagermo@feddit.org 12 points 18 hours ago (1 children)

Wait, i thought only antifa stormed the building as a false flag? Was babbitt antifa? Or profa?

[–] PattyMcB@lemmy.world 4 points 17 hours ago

She was a shitbag

[–] Gumbyyy@lemmy.world 14 points 16 hours ago

Maybe they can give her a 21 gun salute. With live ammo. Straight into her coffin.

[–] azimir@lemmy.ml 79 points 21 hours ago (1 children)

So the Air Force is actively promotion insurrection and violent coups against the US. So noted.

[–] AbidanYre@lemmy.world 30 points 20 hours ago (1 children)

The Air Force has had a problem with people more loyal to evangelicalism than the country for while now.

[–] dhork@lemmy.world 10 points 20 hours ago (2 children)

Now I'm curious: why the Air Force in particular?

[–] AbidanYre@lemmy.world 8 points 20 hours ago (1 children)

Maybe the other services do to, but that's the only one I have first hand experience with.

[–] Zahille7@lemmy.world 1 points 18 hours ago (1 children)

Is it because the Air Force is the "easiest"?

[–] AbidanYre@lemmy.world 1 points 6 hours ago

Could be. AF acquisitions was barely the military.

[–] Xbeam@lemmy.world 5 points 20 hours ago

She was in the Air Force.

I'm not surprised by this.

The US is in a civil war. I know it may not seem like it, because there aren't necessarily organized armies and battle lines, but not all wars are fought that way, especially not in this day and age. But while the nature of war may have changed, some things have stayed the same.

In the first US civil war, Lee wanted to capture Washington DC, because if you control the US Federal government you control the United States of America. That's still true. Well, guess who has control of the US Federal government. The liberals and the leftists are losing a war they didn't even know they were fighting. My advice to liberals and my fellow leftists is: start fighting back, or get used to living under permanent Conservative rule.

Just remember, the French Revolution went on for years. At some point the tide will turn.

[–] teamevil@lemmy.world 18 points 17 hours ago

Treasonous cunt

[–] RattlerSix@lemmy.world 6 points 15 hours ago

The guy who made the decision was fired from Space Force for doing right wing podcasts, wrote a book about Marxism in the military and asked Trump to root out "monsters" in the military who support diversity. He's anti-vax, pro Jan 6, basically his brain is completely given over to any right wing racist concept or conspiracy theory you can think of.

[–] BussyGyatt@feddit.org 7 points 16 hours ago* (last edited 16 hours ago) (1 children)

my read: this is an attempt to show the public that the military is unified in support for j6. i don't buy it. something about this feels like someone swallowed their own pride and honor and self respect to make this 'honorable' funeral happen. someone trying to keep the peace. military officers are not ignorant of what j6 represents, in my admittedly anecdotal experience. for another thing, observe party commisar the honorable mr lohmeir's name on the order, as opposed to any general staff officer's.

it's bad, very bad. but we're not quite ready to start putting people against the wall yet. we're still thinking about how we're gonna get people to think about that first.

edit: the honorable mr lohmeir is a published author. I want you to guess the nature of his book before you click this link.

Nah, this is feeding the MAGA base. They have been ginning up conspiracies about her death since it happened, pushed by fox news/Tucker Carlson. They needed to find an excuse for one of their zealots being rightfully killed that day, in order to downplay the whole insurrection.

Her mom has kept the conspiracies alive, and conniving politicians have gone along with it because the media engine gives them a boost with the fanatics

This is just the latest example. MAGA can now go "see! She didn't deserve to be shot! even though the air force says so!"

[–] BussyGyatt@feddit.org 2 points 14 hours ago

Yeah that seems plausible too. probably more plausible than my read tbh. i'm a little afraid my read may be tainted by copium.

[–] VeryVito@lemmy.ml 17 points 20 hours ago

The insurrectionist and traitor to the United States? Cremate and leave her in the dustbin.

[–] PattyMcB@lemmy.world 5 points 17 hours ago

Rewarding bad behavior

[–] flandish@lemmy.world 7 points 19 hours ago

the military gives funeral honors to terrorists literally all the time. this is not news.

[–] tiredofsametab@fedia.io 8 points 20 hours ago

Fucking gross

[–] RagingRobot@lemmy.world 7 points 20 hours ago (1 children)

They didn't have her funeral yet?

[–] topherclay@lemmy.world 2 points 17 hours ago

She was cremated and had a funeral in 2021 one month after she died. She was denied the funeral honors ceremony at her funeral at the time but this news is a reversal of that decision.

They are inviting the family out to the Pentagon I think, where they will probably give her the flag and certificate that would have been part of the ceremony. I dunno if they are gonna have service members play taps, the song that is usually part of the ceremony at a funeral. But yeah, she already had a funeral four and a half years ago when she died.

[–] sploder@lemmy.world 1 points 20 hours ago

When is her (assuming) dad’s baby due? Lmfao
