Women only trans inclusive This is an inclusive community for all things women. Whether you're here for make up tips, feminism or just friendly chit chat, we've got you covered.

Rules…

  1. Women only… trans women are women, and transphobic or gender critical talk isn’t allowed. Anyone under the trans umbrella (e.g. non-binary, bigender, agender) is free to decide whether a women's community is a good fit for them.
  2. Don’t be a dick. No personal attacks, no aggression, play nice.
  3. Don’t hate on groups, hatefilled talk about groups is not allowed. Ever.
  4. No governmental politics, so no talk of Trump actions etc. We recommend Feminism@beehaw.org for that, but here is an escape from it.
  5. New accounts or users with few comments may have their posts removed to prevent spam and bad-faith participation.

I've always struggled with depression but had it really well managed for several years. I thought I'd cracked the code. But I'm going through perimenopause now and everything feels so... flat. I know it's not helping that I've fallen out of all my good habits that help the depression, but all of those things just feel so much harder than they did a few years ago. I'm so dang tired all the time.

Anyone else relate?

Thanks for posting this, peri is still kinda hidden although it's an expected part of women's lives. This is one of many reasons I'm dreading menopause. I already have depression and anxiety why would I want more? I've not heard good things about doctors with menopause either although luckily I'm in a good one.

With everything that's going on in your body right now it's no surprise you feel flat. Your hormones are being whacked all over the place, your body is changing and then you've got the psychological effect of going through peri. No wonder you feel flat, and back in bad habits.

Don't forget we've got your back here, anytime you need us just holler.

I'm with you all the way.

I've done the advice others have mentioned in the other comments over the last couple of years, and it really has helped a lot.

I feel like a walking farmacy though, with all the stuff I take (vitamins, iron, progesterone, estrogen), and I'm still at maybe 50% of the energy and positivity I used to feel when I was 35, but it's much better than when the peri symptoms really hit me.

Yes, I can relate! It's so awful. I have no energy and my depression, which up until recently had been pretty much under control, has gotten worse. A lot of the time I feel partly sad, partly angry, and partly defeated. And so fucking tired.

I started progesterone in June and will be starting estrogen in September. From what I hear, estrogen should make a huge difference in energy level, body aches, and mental state. Are you on HRT?

I hope things improve for you. Peri sucks and if you need someone to commiserate with, I'm here 🤍

I got super tired and fatigued and thought it was me getting older but then i went to the doctor and had low iron and vitamin d. I'm still worse than i was but it's not anywhere near as bad. I also upped my depression meds along with treating the deficiencies.

I'd recommend checking your levels if you haven't already. I might just be projecting my own situation on you, though. It turned out to be worth a trip to a doctor in my case.

seconding this, also recommend checking hormone levels - what is being described is how I feel when my estrogen is low!

You can get a bioidentical estrogen gel, HRT had come a long way and is much safer than the days of synthetic horse estrogen ...
