I just got an old song on my mind, and I want to listen to it again.

I have only ever heard the song while playing StepMania on PC. Note that it was on PC with downloaded tracks, so it was probably not a default track from the game. I played the game around 2006-2008.

The song featured a heavy rhythm with a synth track on top. In a quick attempt to count the beat in my head, I would guess it to be at around 100-120 bpm.

In the game, I faintly remember the background image to have a small cartoonish kid in the air as though he's jumping, but he has a balloon tied around his waist. My memory said that the song was called "Walking on/in air" but I could be completely wrong about it.

I have tried to recreate the melody on guitar. To make it easy for me to write, I only use 1 string. The pitch is pretty high, so I'm guessing the b-string is where it's at, but I do by no means have perfect pitch.

I think the song starts with 3 "Boom"s and goes into that melody which repeats.

I feel like I have a lot of information, but my google-fu fails me. I'd love if anyone knows this.

Edit: I tooknyour suggested and recorded me playing it to give a sense of the rhythm.

The notes might be off by a bit, and it doesn't feel 100% correct, but it should give a sense of it.

Could you maybe record the audio of your guitar version (or even just hum it), eg on Vocaroo?

I can't figure out that tab at all :-)

Here is a quick and dirty attempt. I ended on a single note, but that's where it's supposed to repeat.

I don't think the notes are perfect, and something seems somewhat off, but it should give an idea.

Thanks!

I don't recognise it though, I'm afraid.

It sort of reminds me of La Bamba by Los Lobos, but I doubt it's that.

Hope you can find it though! 👍

It's not La Bamba, sadly. Thank you so much for trying!

No worries, always fun to try and figure things like this out. I used to do it all the time on Reddit! 😁

I'd like to have a listen too. I seem to remember a balloon fight illustration for a song. Not sure if that is the same imagery being described by OP.

The second image is very close to what I remember. In fact, it's so close that I am worried this is a false clue and that my mind is just mixing up images. I didn't recognize the song, though.

there were tons in the database with a similar image

I will try this tomorrow (european time). Thanks for the tip!

+1 for humming it.

I’ve hummed a song I was trying to ID before and had great luck.

I had to pull out a guitar for this, but it didn't get me any closer to an answer. Without a clear rythm to go with, the major scale plucking sounds like a hymn to me. In short; I have no idea.

I edited in a link to my recording, if you want to give it a listen.

Doesn't sound familiar to me

Thank you so much for trying!

Absolutely, tabs are not great for describing rhythm. Thank you so much for trying!

I will record a sample of it from my guitar tomorrow (european time).
