There's a lot of "thank you for your content" meme replies here. This is your thing, but it does seem like the content in question is part of a larger narrative that's trying to say something serious.

The young mage just brutally killed someone, and then was presented with evidence of their humanity and them having a family that loves and will miss them, and which even had something special planned right then.
