Israel has no way to win in this situation. Torturing her will result in media backlash. Executing her would only make a martyr, which is even worse. Somehow, Israel didn’t choose to kick her out immediately.
The worst thing Israel could have done to discredit Greta Thunberg and damage her brand would have been to give her a nice meal, a warm bed in a nice hotel, gently push her onboard the next 1st class flight back to Stockholm the next day and release a statement telling her to go play SJW somewhere else. Instead, they're doing everything possible to confirm they're truly bad people, like dumbasses.

And I think I have an explanation for that:
We do not often read how Israeli politicians talk, verbatim*. They got used responding only to their own media landscape, where apparently they can go much farther in their rhetoric (and subsequent actions) without repercussions. There's also some deep-seated misogyny specifically against women of other race/religion or however they define that for themselves. Like, they'd never do that if she was a typical NY Jew, for example.
Of course that isn't the whole picture; we must also look at the unquestioning support they've been getting from most "Western" countries which no doubt contributed to them developing this sort of impunity.
* Netanyahu often speaks English when addressing the world. It's still bad enough, but it allows him to present a different picture to the world than to his constituency.

They realize that kicking her out just means she will be on her way back on the next boat. They are trying to intimidate her into not coming back.
I hope the Swedish government has a harsh answer for one of their citizens getting kidnapped in International Waters.

They could have not taken her hostage.
But then more people might be willing to risk it and ride in aid. Israel definitely doesn't want that. (Not saying it's a good thing just the optics would cause them just as many problems)
Too late for that. They screwed up.
They could publicly execute her and governments around the world would still support them.
Well some of them would, because that’s how international politics works. However, a surprising number of countries have recognized Palestine, so I think the number of friends Israel has might be in a decline.

Israel is a terrorist country.
Am I wrong in saying they're (seemingly) quantifiably worse than every other "terrorist" country in the region? I know plenty have human rights issues, but I can't imagine anyone is competitive on sheer quantity of murder and atrocities!?
There are no others actively perpetrating genocide on the massive scale Israel is. Morally and legally that puts Israel in a class of its own.
But they're more friendly to Christians, which is all the West cares about

American Christians only care about Israel's role in the "end times."
The Swedish government, and the EU commission is not making nearly enough noise as it should here.

Sooo is anyone gonna do anything here? I know USA would back up Israel here but, like, someone help?
They will be treated kinda badly in order to encourage them to not get on the next set of boats coming down, then they will be released.
Some will rejoin the next flotilla will which will hopefully be a hundred boats or more and maybe some of the countries will provide naval cover to stop the drones from attacking them on the seas.
Are we ready to believe victims now? Are we ready to act?
