Like there's on old 2008 EP* by the Virgins which was really great; then they signed with Atlantic and they forced the lead singer to replace everyone (*ruined their sound, the definition of overproduced, sell-out crap). The old label went under, and now the only way to find that CD is on discogs and some shitty rips uploaded to yt ten years ago.
Didn't a recent YouTube update break most if not all downloaders? It borked cobalt.tools.
yt-dlp is only ever broken for a few days at most

Update - Video DownloadHelper in firefox does work. I download a fuckton of videos this way, have found a few sites it doesn't work well on. I have the paid version since I used it so much in documenting videos I was afraid would disappear eventually.

They've been using AAC with a variable bitrate for the last 15+ years, usually capped at 192 kbps, which is plenty. Stuff from 2009 and older might still be recorded in 128 kbps, but they've been replacing some with better quality versions as well.

I feel like soulseek (nicotine+) doesn't have much of a learning curve. Someone competent enough to get and use a command line utility to download YouTube content could probably manage fine. Though optimally you want to be able to open a port, which isn't always an option for everyone.
