actually though the kitchen nightmares YouTube account admin is so damn funny
it looks normal at first

but then you go to the video tab and

like they gave this girl like FULL creative control of the official channel

he got an Oscar IRL then she did a whole damn saga about it

this one is BY FAR my favorite though

There are some social media managers that deserve to be recognised for their work.

[–] Dasus@lemmy.world 3 points 2 days ago

If I had to guess I'd wager it's one of his children.

1 x 1998 2 x 1999 1x 2001

(and younger ones but like not old enough to manage yt)

Yahoo Entertainment says one of the 1999 fraternal twins is a somewhat established Youtuber apparently, so I assume it's her.

I've been subscribed to kitchen nightmares for years, it has to be the funniest descent into complete meme madness that I've ever seen. It was once normal.

[–] Lemminary@lemmy.world 20 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Reminds me of the funny guy running the Wendy's account on the bird site. Best PR move ever, tbh.

[–] ilovepiracy@lemmy.dbzer0.com 2 points 2 days ago

Agreed, it was good back in 2017. For me the effect wore off after a few months when the gimmick boiled down to "Wow the brand is being so savage 😂😂"

gordon can't reheat his nachos because he is the nachos

Poetry

[–] OpticalMoose@discuss.tchncs.de 30 points 2 days ago (2 children)

Or look at the bright side. The biggest asshole you'll probably ever meet just walked into your kitchen, and the only thing you have to lose is a minimum wage job.

[–] BarneyPiccolo@lemmy.today 20 points 2 days ago

He's actually cool to the workers. He goes after the upper level people who are paid to know better.

[–] dev_null@lemmy.ml 27 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago) (2 children)

He's actually super nice in person, only plays a character of an asshole for the show, when the camera is rolling.

[–] bunnyBoy@pawb.social 34 points 2 days ago

Even on his shows he's rarely ever mean to the staff, he's more focused on the owners.

[–] ianhclark510@lemmy.blahaj.zone -1 points 2 days ago

Is he in character when he’s putting people’s lives at risk drunk driving? Asking for a friend

[–] cley_faye@lemmy.world 17 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Kick back and relax, is what I'd say. If you're minimum wage, it's not your problem.

[–] BarneyPiccolo@lemmy.today 11 points 2 days ago

Exactly. What are they going to, fire me from a min wage kitchen job? There are six restaurants in a 3 square block radius that will put me on the next shift.

[–] Novamdomum@fedia.io 18 points 2 days ago (2 children)

You're right. He doesn't tend to kick the little people, unless they're nicking stuff. I still remember that episode with those two owners (Amy and Samy) at Amy’s Baking Company. They were just such completely unrepentant, terrible people. Apparently they shut the place in 2015 and left the country lol

[–] Corkyskog@sh.itjust.works 11 points 2 days ago

That was a wild episode. Did you know after that first episode business was booming for a while? People went out of their way to try to see their rudeness. But I guess the food overall didn't make it worth it.

by stuff, do you mean food? because if they're stealing food that's still a "the owners suck" thing

[–] TankovayaDiviziya@lemmy.world 25 points 2 days ago (3 children)

What movie is this? Willem Defoe seems to sign up for movies where he is filmed in extremely close shot.

[–] Sylvartas@lemmy.dbzer0.com 11 points 2 days ago

He does have a perfect face for that. Lots of "texture" with wrinkles and all that, but still good looking imo (and expressive)

[–] Agent641@lemmy.world 1 points 2 days ago

There's a reasonably decent but not well known Australian film with Dafoe in it called The Hunter

[–] Aljernon@lemmy.today 17 points 2 days ago (2 children)

Not that I would work at a kitchen as bad as the ones on TV but having worked in restaurants, I'm surprised these kitchen nightmare type shows don't have the host get punched by the staff periodically. Line cooks can be salty.

[–] Ordinary_Person@lemmy.ca 13 points 2 days ago

I wasn't a regular viewer but I remember some kitchen reality show where you had to beat everyone else in cooking competitions and the prize was you'd work for Gordon. At some point, one of the contestants had enough of Gordon's patronizing bullshit and challenged him to a fight and Gordon looked at him like he was a stupid child. But Gordon knows what's up. If you act like an asshole for long enough in a Kitchen, someone will fuck you up.

[–] Corkyskog@sh.itjust.works 14 points 2 days ago (1 children)

It happens, my guilty pleasure is Kitchen Nightmares and related shows. Gordon and or his camera crew have been assaulted twice from memory. They get broken up crazy fast though. I wouldn't be surprised if there are more that don't make it to camera. They are trying to tell a different story in each episode, so I am sure a brawl kind of derails that story telling.

[–] Aljernon@lemmy.today 4 points 2 days ago (2 children)

I don't watch Kitchen Nightmares but I'm in the room from time to time when my dad watches Bar Rescue and and his whole schtick just comes across as really punchable

[–] BananaIsABerry@lemmy.zip 3 points 2 days ago (1 children)

There's a bar near me that was featured on that show.

Still sucks.

[–] Aljernon@lemmy.today 1 points 2 days ago

I think part of the problem with this style of show is that they'll write a new menus or drink specials that doesn't lean into the strengths (if any) of the staff or take into account what people in the local area like to eat/drink. They just do stuff that's interesting for TV. Plus sometimes the work culture is the real culprit and you can almost never change that without mass firings and if the owners the problem....

[–] Corkyskog@sh.itjust.works 1 points 2 days ago

I can't stand Bar Rescue, Taffer really does have the most punchable face, it's like on par with Penn from Penn and Teller.

[–] psx_crab@lemmy.zip 26 points 3 days ago (1 children)

That's the moment you quit, or breakdown and tell Gordon the truth then sit back and see him tear the owner apart.

[–] QuinnyCoded@sh.itjust.works 24 points 2 days ago

watching the show, the "just work here" defence works nearly every time tbh. Unless you're the cause of the problem or haven't done anything to try to help Gordon is pretty forgiving.

[–] monogram@feddit.nl 22 points 3 days ago

In defence it’s important to attack first once you know violence is the only option.

[–] moseschrute@lemmy.world 9 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago) (1 children)

You're not cooked, you're undercooked!

THIS CHICKEN IS RAW. IT'S FUCKING DISGUSTING!

Insert more things Gordon Ramsay would say

[–] AngryCommieKender@lemmy.world 3 points 2 days ago

WHERE'S THE BLOODY LAMB SAUCE‽‽‽

[–] uriel238@lemmy.blahaj.zone 3 points 2 days ago

In this case, my minimum-wageiness trumps Mr. Ramsay's celebrity and inappropriate attitude.

Or put another way,

Sir, this is a Wendy's

[–] Freaky@lemmy.world 6 points 2 days ago (1 children)

"What is this atrocity?! This tastes like my grandma's ash, ya donkey !"

[–] hOrni@lemmy.world 2 points 2 days ago (1 children)

How do You know what Your grandmas ash tastes like?

[–] Freaky@lemmy.world 2 points 2 days ago

Ask Gordon Rameses...

[–] Lemminary@lemmy.world 5 points 2 days ago

I've been told that's the majority of all kitchen employees. You can't work at a kitchen and not be on something, allegedly.

[–] Crashumbc@lemmy.world 5 points 2 days ago

Or not give a shit...
