Lot of controversy around this in the medical community. In that you can't overdose on fentanyl from contact. Cops continue to insist otherwise though.

There are certainly cases where cops are doing the drugs but then blame physical contact in order to save face or cover for each other.

More "no controversy in the medical community, but lots in the cop community."

Doctors are not divided on this because it's simple fact based science that the cop claims of "contact highs" aren't possible.

Yeah that's a better way to put it. It leads to a lot of frustrating confrontation in the emergency department but you're right that there is a consensus on the medical side.

I mean ingesting, snorting, or injecting drugs technically is making contact with the drug. 🤷‍♂️

I remember some grotesque IRL stories of police getting paranoid about, what was it, contamination through osmosis? Basically OD'ing by touching "drugs"?

Yep, fentanyl. Thing is, its all BS. The reality is, cops just like to use the drugs they find and when fent started getting cut into other drugs, like cocaine or meth, the cops were ODing and had to come up with a cover story. Hence the myth of fentanyl being an Uber drug developed by antifa trans leftists to kill our heroes started.

Fentanyl can be dangerous, but it's used in medical settings often. It does not kill you in infinitesimal amounts through contact or sight. I used to work in an ER / Trauma center, and we laughed our asses off at how fucking dumb that copaganda was when the stories first started dropping. It was obvious what was really happening.

It's also been approved for medical use since 1968.

Pretty sure contact OD would have gotten it removed from the market pretty fucking fast.

"officer nearly ODs on femtanyl after touching ________ laced with the drug"

Was a headline I saw multiple times over the last 5 or so years.

[–] A_norny_mousse@feddit.org 8 points 1 day ago

Yeah and I remember seeing some real footage where they complained about it, like a work security thing.

Now there’s something ten bazillion times worse than fentanyl, just by looking at it you turn into a gay werewolf vampire frog and piss blood killing babies.
