And we'll have a new healthcare plan any day now

Inflation going down doesn't mean prices go down.

[–] thallamabond@lemmy.world 9 points 1 day ago (2 children)

Picture yourself trying to catch up with a car going thirty mph, it's getting away, then they slow to twenty.

That's a reduction is acceleration, just like a reduction in inflation means prices are still rising, but slower.

This is a post about me at the grocery store.

[–] frongt@lemmy.zip 6 points 1 day ago (1 children)

No that's a reduction in velocity.

[–] thallamabond@lemmy.world 2 points 1 day ago

That's correct! I was wrong, and I typed is instead of in. Thanks.

About as coherent as "we defeated Medicare!"

Trump says

Yeah stop right there

Remember, the reason nothing is built in America is your fault (the people). We keep asking for liveable wages and that is why we make everything overseas.

So every year when you get your 1.2% or 1.9% raise, it's your fault everything is expensive. If only you lived in a third world country with a lot of "sacrifices", then we could make fake trees in the USA.

If Americans are confident that the central bank can keep inflation in check, they won’t take steps — such as demanding sharply higher pay when prices rise — that can launch an inflationary spiral. Companies often increase prices further to offset higher labor costs.

Chris Butler, CEO of National Tree Company, the nation’s largest artificial Christmas tree seller, says his company will raise prices by about 10%...... The cost of labor and real estate is too high to make them in the United States, he said.

Does he know that cutting the rate has a tendency to raise inflation? Jesus, these morons don't even know basic economics.

[–] Ebby@lemmy.ssba.com 10 points 1 day ago

No, this is totally the point. The wealthy can borrow cheap money now to buy up all the property people are losing in disasters and financial crises. Welcome to renter hell, peons.

[–] whiwake@lemmy.cafe 7 points 1 day ago (2 children)

They know EXACTLY what they are doing 100% of the time.

[–] gdog05@lemmy.world 5 points 1 day ago (1 children)

I will not give them that much. Many of these people at the top are greedy idiots. The smartest things they did are to buy other greedy idiots who were elected and to pay greedy smart people to keep modifying the system that they themselves don't fully understand to make them richer.

Every week we get a new episode of Nixon's Watergate and a new W. Bush's Mission Accomplished like it's a Netflix series with this Trump administration.

[–] whiwake@lemmy.cafe 5 points 1 day ago

Clicks mean money. 😭

[–] Gerudo@lemmy.zip 10 points 1 day ago (1 children)

I'm a millionaire.

*checks bank account

Oh, see how by just saying something, it's not necessarily true?

[–] whiwake@lemmy.cafe 16 points 1 day ago (1 children)

You’re a millionaire?! You’ve got my vote… I didn’t read past that because I’m a RePuBlIcAaN

They see "I have a lot of money" as "I know how to handle money", instead of "I know how to take advantage of people".

The only reason these people have so much money is because they are either underpaying their employees, or overcharging their customers. That gets the ball rolling.

Nobody got rich by being fair. Nobody. Not billionaire rich. Not halfway to a trillion dollars rich. They got that money by taking it from others, or getting people to give it to them willingly.

If you're lucky you might get to be a millionaire by working hard and playing by the rules. Maybe. Plenty of six-figure jobs out there that can net you a million in a decade, and if you live within your means, and have no unexpected large bills (unlikely), you might have a million saved in two.

But a millionaire isn't even rich anymore. Any boomer that bought a house in a HCOL area in the 80s/90s and has it paid off is most the way to a "millionaire" now as it is.

But working hard and playing by the rules isn't for them. They want some get rich quick scheme where they can sit back and watch the money roll in. They all feel that they are owed that because they are a straight white male, and it's the _____s fault that it never works.

Billionaires should not be worshipped. Not even Tay-tay.

Now we, as a society invest in a handful of incredibly greedy people, instead of investing in public works, social programs, infrastructure, education, etc. And what do we have for it? Everything is in shambles, and everything is controlled by that same handful of greedy sleazeballs.

And what do they do with that control? They tell us to worship them, and everything bad that happens to you is the fault of the _____s. Blame the people below you for dragging you down (when really they are just trying to climb up), instead of blaming the guy who literally climbed over you and now keeps raising the ladder and knocking it over every dozen years or so.

[–] fartographer@lemmy.world 4 points 1 day ago

"I've taken your money."

"Fuckin' genius."

I’m sure no fed expert but I can’t believe they are cutting rates in this environment.

[–] homesweethomeMrL@lemmy.world 6 points 1 day ago (1 children)

"Inflation is defeated" sentences conjured up by the hopelessly deranged.

[–] massive_bereavement@fedia.io 9 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Maybe he should do a televised speech with a banner behind him that read "Mission Accomplished".

[–] homesweethomeMrL@lemmy.world 3 points 1 day ago

It worked before.
