  • Star wars force awakens.
  • Tangled
  • Mulan
  • Transformers
  • Avatar (Blue people)

Could probably come up with more.

Hunger games

A sadly underappreciated show:

Terminator: The Sarah Conner Chronicles

[–] SaraTonin@lemmy.world 4 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Easily the best terminator property after the first two. I mean that’s not a high bar, but i mean it should be held in the same esteem as they are.

[–] 0_0j@lemmy.world 1 points 1 day ago (1 children)

I loved it! Binged all day!

[–] SaraTonin@lemmy.world 1 points 1 day ago

Awesome! Be prepared, though: it’ll break your heart. They had the story worked out. Was going to be 4 seasons. We got 2.

The machine

[–] VeryVito@lemmy.ml 55 points 3 days ago (2 children)

Terminator 2 is probably the easiest answer.

[–] RavenofDespair@lemmy.ml 1 points 1 day ago

no Terminator is the main protector in movie

[–] HazardousBanjo@lemmy.world 1 points 2 days ago

But John was just a teenager tho

Mary Poppins

Alien (if you count the cat)

28 Days Later

Run Lola Run (sorta)

[–] RavenofDespair@lemmy.ml 1 points 1 day ago

yes on Mary Poppins and Run Lola Run

[–] spittingimage@lemmy.world 21 points 3 days ago (3 children)

Alien (if you count the cat)

I count Ripley following protocol and refusing to open the airlock for a contaminated crewmate. If Ash hadn't stepped in, the movie would have ended very differently.

[–] toynbee@lemmy.world 4 points 2 days ago (1 children)

I don't remember much of that movie, but an Aliens / Evil Dead crossover sounds like a lot of fun.

[–] spittingimage@lemmy.world 3 points 1 day ago (1 children)

I think that would work best as a comic. The two movies are too different in tone to put on screen.

[–] toynbee@lemmy.world 3 points 1 day ago

That's fair, I feel like I could support the project either way.

[–] Professorozone@lemmy.world 9 points 3 days ago (3 children)

Also she defended Burke when the Marines were going to kill him for what he did. I mean she wanted him punished but... Letter of the law here. He was weak, she defended him.

Jonesy is a good cat

[–] folaht@lemmy.ml 8 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago)

Any of the Sailormoon movies possibly?
Tuxedo Mask usually gets more into trouble than the heroine herself.

Although I wouldn't actually count him as weak, just weaker.
And it's an old anime series, like starting in the 1990s, with later reboots.

[–] Corridor8031@lemmy.ml 18 points 3 days ago

Alita: Battle Angel i think was like this a bit, but it is maybe not straightforward enough

maybe the no game no life movie , but i dont think that is really what you are looking for

[–] MoonMelon@lemmy.ml 39 points 3 days ago (3 children)

The first Underworld from 2003 is like this, but it's painfully early 2000s. It's from that era when every action movie was ripping of The Matrix as hard as possible.

[–] RavenofDespair@lemmy.ml 1 points 1 day ago

this looks like the closest match thanks

[–] scoobford@lemmy.zip 12 points 3 days ago

Pain? No that feeling is wonder.

It is wonderfully early 2000s.

[–] NauticalNoodle@lemmy.ml 12 points 3 days ago (2 children)

Kate Beckinsale younger and in leather. Nice.

First matrix. Trinity is much more skilled than Neo until the final act.

[–] yaroto98@lemmy.world 22 points 3 days ago* (last edited 3 days ago) (5 children)

Similarly - Edge of Tomorrow Emily Blunt is skilled and trains Tom Cruise until he's competent enough to save the world. By the end they're both extremely competent. Only reason Tom Cruise saves the world and not her is due to the timeloops. She'd already done it once.

Aliens. After Gorman's breakdown, all the marines start taking orders from Ripley.

[–] Pumafred9@lemmy.world 5 points 3 days ago

3000 Years of Longing maybe? Tilda is very caring and acknowledging of her Djinn's needs.

[–] Rekorse@sh.itjust.works 3 points 2 days ago

Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets

[–] HubertManne@piefed.social 9 points 3 days ago

curiously I have seen it with tv shows lately. A good place, hellava boss, and the anime Tougen Anki has like the most extreme version of that I think possible. I feel like I have seen more but can't recall atm.
