Nice, I only use Keychron these days. Home PC has a Q6 Pro with Gazzew Boba Black U4T v2 switches and black side-print caps (except WASD, those are black Cerakeys). Same switches/caps on a V6 Max at the office, without the Cerakeys. My wife uses a K4V2 96%, kids use C2s, and I have a B6 Pro in my laptop bag. Love seeing more of ‘em out there.

looks like a keychron q series? very solid boards, have a lovely heft to them. presently using a Q3 + Q0 combo with custom switches and keycaps - having a lovely time with them so far 😊
@vikingtons@lemmy.world Oh, yeah, forgot to mention that! I edited the post to say—it's a V5 Max, so made from plastic instead of aluminum. But that can help with the sound, as I've heard, and I must say I do like the sound, so far.
Been watching a bunch of Hipyo videos, lately 🙈
still a very nice board, I believe you can still interact with them using QMK and apps like VIA?
@vikingtons@lemmy.world Yes—in fact, that was one of the main requirements I had when looking for one! Just flashed it with Colorhoster to be able to use it with OpenRGB, and now I have this really nice music equalizer working on it. I really enjoy that 😁
eggcellent. great find!
@toothpaste_sandwich oh! looking for that ! Do you know if that can be ported to a lily58 keyboard ?
(and do you know if there is a video demo for the old school doom + project-aurora?)
I don't know, but if it supports VIA / QMK then yes! You can ask around on the OpenRGB Discord for help. (And no, in fact, I'm not sure what these things mean 🙈)
The aluminum ones aren't actually made of aluminum. They just put aluminum plates over the plastic frame.
Learned that one other day taking apart my k8 pro.
I've also taken apart my q8 before and I'm pretty sure it's solid aluminium. Way too solid and heavy for just plated plastic.
Oh... Well, honestly, that might make for a nicer sound?
i REALLY like dedicated F keys
Ugh - that numpad would drive me crazy with the truncated zero key. I'd always be hitting the right arrow. If you're going to have a numpad, don't fuck with the proper layout!
That's the exact reason I went with the Q5 Pro ... 3 extra keys where the middle cluster would be, and the numpad is intact.
I like Keychron, but i wish they didn't use south-facing LEDs. I find it very eye-stabby from certain angles (especially the one right under the numpad 0 key)
Keychron is great, I have three of them!!
I actually use my scroll lock and print screen keys, so I made fn+the arrow keys act like home, end, page up and page down... Kind of miss my old TKL keyboard, but I can learn new things!
