I'm gonna guess that the highest paid person at U of N is the head football coach. I bet that the football coach is one of the highest paid public official in the entire state of Nebraska.

I loved the university system. Too bad it was eaten alive by leeches and pigskins.

Scott Frost is among the highest paid state employees in the USA. He serves as the head coach of the Cornhuskers football team at the University of Nebraska. He signed a 7-year agreement with the club in 2017 of $35 million.

Besides being the head coach at the University, Frost is also a graduate of the University. Once his contract expired, the University requested him to extend his contract for another two years because of his exemplary performance.

Gee whiz a guy that yells at kids in tights 6 months a year is the highest paid. That is dedication to money and gambling not to learning.

The best part is that he's not even particularly good at it. Nebraska has been shit for well more than a decade at this point.

Well everyone can get a participation trophy.

[–] tomselleck@sopuli.xyz 4 points 3 days ago (1 children)

Frost hasn’t been the coach for a few years now. The current coach is Matt Rhule.

[–] njm1314@lemmy.world 5 points 3 days ago (1 children)

And Rhule is paid significantly more than Frost was.

[–] BakerBagel@midwest.social 1 points 3 days ago

Well yeah, Frost was a bad coach. Ruhle is much better.

because sports is a money maker for universities unfortunately. thats where all your resources go, to sports, and why career development for students not in sports is very lacking or non-existent. labs for experience, often are small and full if you try to apply, and often time the PIs are very hesitent to allow new students into thier labs.

and advising is done BY overworked PROFESSORS THEMSELVES, who want nothing more than to get you to leave them alone as fast as possible, so they give students bad advice most of the time.

It would be great if we could separate academia and sports.

Just like anywhere else: Those who actually do the work get less and less.

This is more about labeling every staff member they can as management so they don't have to pay overtime.

[–] Pyr_Pressure@lemmy.ca 3 points 3 days ago

That doesn't fly where I live, not sure about Nebraska though.

Where I live if you label someone's position as management they are still entitled to overtime unless 95% of their time is actually spent doing management. So the assistant manager in retail can help out on the cash register a bit if needed, but not do sales one day a week and the rest of the time management without overtime.

Nebraska is one of the most right wings states, right. Interesting.

Yeah, there's an explosion in bullshit jobs.
