Catbox is the image upload site suggested here in the sidebar, VPN (and Tor?)-friendly.

They got dropped off Patreon and lost monthly recurring revenue.
It's been a few months now but I think it's always worth mentioning.

The owners of the website operate their own mini datacenter in order to provide a free and open service.

This could also be a good opportunity to introduce them to Monero.
Anyone knows a good setup for recurring crypto payments (XMR, BCH, whatever)?

open service

Since when is the project open (if you mean open source)?

Well, there's really no way to have automatically recurring payments with cryptocurrencies like Monero, since any automatic payment service would need access to your private keys to be able to authorize transactions on your behalf.

Yes, it could be interesting to have some service where you transfer funds and it takes care of splitting it and sending it for you every month to your different favorite projects.
A kind of crypto-focused liberaPay?

I won't pay Monero to support web apps that will always cost more and more money to run. The "web" is a scam standard. I'll use it while everyone's using it, but I encourage everyone to develop and move to decentralized P2P networks where we rely on something like BitTorrent seeders to support image hosting, not Monero being converted to dollars.

If the people running this are losing money to support the community, I absolutely give them my thanks. But I won't join them.

Your BitTorrent seeders would also be losing money if they host a lot of data, or am I missing something?

They'd get to use the service in exchange for seeding it, not lose money
