I completely understand and empathize with your concern. I would be willing to suggest to the committee that decides such things to allow you to freely choose whether you join Lower Ohio or Soon-to-be Ohio instead, or you could just become a part of Ohio proper, as you're basically already our little sibling. <3
So, the io is probably for input/output, but what does the oh stand for?
That's a common misconception. Io is actually a moon orbiting Jupiter, and OH actually stands for "Oh no! Has OHIO already expanded past the asteroid belt?!?"
I was seriously hoping to see a "New Ohio"

They tried making that, but it turns out that the post-apocalyptic wasteland version of Ohio is indistinguishable from regular Ohio.
Since there is a large population of Japanese Americans and immigrants in Hawaii, I petition that we rename that state to Ohio Gozaimas.
Not even Ohio wants anything to do with Florida.
I still confuse Ohio, Idaho and Iowa.
On a more serious note, Idaho has the best potatoes in the world, Iowa has the best corn in the world, and there's also Ohio!
