To be fair, they weren't wrong

[–] vankappa@lemmy.world 46 points 10 months ago (3 children)

yeah he could've just stayed there and enjoy the chill way life there BUT he chose to help the lion clan that was under the dictator and the hyenas, so he chose to save his people. Like something in the bible probably

[–] Ross_audio@lemmy.world 70 points 10 months ago (3 children)

It's based on Hamlet. So Shakespeare, not the bible.

[–] 0x0@lemmy.dbzer0.com 98 points 10 months ago (4 children)

Shakespeare wasn't one person, he was actually a collection of Bibles writing under a pseudonym

[–] db2@lemmy.world 43 points 10 months ago (1 children)

Biblically accurate Shakespeare can't hurt you.

[–] rockerface@lemm.ee 22 points 10 months ago (1 children)

TO BE AFRAID OR TO BE NOT AFRAID? That is the question

[–] nieceandtows@programming.dev 7 points 10 months ago (1 children)
[–] BigFatNips@sh.itjust.works 11 points 10 months ago

Alright, be a little more afraid than that

[–] Twelve20two@slrpnk.net 13 points 10 months ago (1 children)

A bunch of Bibles in a 16th century trench coat

"I'd like a cup of mead."

"Are you 21?"

"I'm 21... Bibles."

"And before they could nail him to the cross, Jesus immediately vanished before them. All who saw this were amazed. Then a voice from the heavens, sounding as though it were the son of God spoke saying, 'The better part of valour is discretion.'"--The Gospel According to Sir John Falstaff

Shakespeare wasn’t one person, he was actually a collection of ~~Bibles~~ monkeys with typewriters writing under a pseudonym

[–] Viking_Hippie@lemmy.world 41 points 10 months ago (1 children)

It's based on Kimba the White Lion, which is based on Hamlet, which is based on an episode of The Office (US).

[–] Speculater@lemmy.world 10 points 10 months ago (1 children)

And that episode got its source material from Game of Thrones.

[–] Churbleyimyam@lemm.ee 4 points 10 months ago (2 children)

That kolanak guy is going to be sad when he sees your username.

[–] Speculater@lemmy.world 6 points 10 months ago

We've crossed paths for months, he taught me how to do it, lol.

[–] Silentiea@lemmy.blahaj.zone 5 points 10 months ago

Sounds like a fun story

[–] Slovene@feddit.nl 9 points 10 months ago (1 children)

I'm waiting for The Lion King based on Oedipus.

[–] FlyingSquid@lemmy.world 2 points 10 months ago

That would definitely require a hakuna matata attitude after Simba gouged his eyes out.

[–] ouRKaoS@lemmy.today 18 points 10 months ago (1 children)

yeah he could've just stayed there and enjoy the chill way life there BUT...

He wanted that sweet Nalaussy

[–] DragonTypeWyvern@literature.cafe 3 points 10 months ago

Sweet Home Alabamussy

[–] SrTobi@feddit.de 8 points 10 months ago (1 children)

Never forget that he became the dictator afterwards

[–] TheEighthDoctor@lemmy.world 2 points 10 months ago (1 children)

Jungle Farm by George Orwell

[–] FlyingSquid@lemmy.world 2 points 10 months ago

Circle of life good, circle of me better.

"It is what it is"

[–] imPastaSyndrome@lemm.ee 59 points 10 months ago (2 children)

He thought that he killed his father through carelessness not Scar

[–] Wogi@lemmy.world 44 points 10 months ago (1 children)

"I think I killed my dad and ran away from the only family I've ever known"

"Have you tried not fucking worrying about it?"

[–] imPastaSyndrome@lemm.ee 1 points 10 months ago

Much better

People didnt really watch the movie.

[–] Gigan@lemmy.world 45 points 10 months ago (2 children)

Simba never told them what his problems were.

[–] Potatos_are_not_friends@lemmy.world 41 points 10 months ago (2 children)

Which is the real message here:

Bottle your trauma.

Eat bugs.

Fuck hot lady lions.

[–] intensely_human@lemm.ee 20 points 10 months ago

There’s a reason they didn’t call the movie The Lil Lion Bitch

So it's like Mad Men but with lions.

[–] joyjoy@lemm.ee 11 points 10 months ago

This also wasn't his problem. He thought he killed his own father, and Scar was his friend who gives good advice.

[–] EvilTwin@lemmy.world 41 points 10 months ago (1 children)

Hakuna Mavodka - it means no memories

[–] darvocet@infosec.pub 16 points 10 months ago

Sounds like a problem free philosophy to me.

[–] LEONHART@slrpnk.net 27 points 10 months ago

Furry Rosencrantz and Guildenstern: "Just vibe."

[–] Logical@lemmy.world 12 points 10 months ago (1 children)

"Here, eat a caterpillar, you'll feel better."

[–] jenny_ball@lemmy.world 4 points 10 months ago

slimy yet satisfying

[–] bane_killgrind@lemmy.ml 8 points 10 months ago

Radical acceptance

[–] mogoh@lemmy.ml 6 points 10 months ago

Well, running away and trying not to worry is a major config of the film. It is basically dismissed as not the solution for his problems and consequential a bad philosophy. Or at least one could argue that.

[–] Daft_ish@lemmy.world 4 points 10 months ago (2 children)

Isn't that the moral? Some things are out of your control....

[–] ILikeBoobies@lemmy.ca 3 points 10 months ago

Yes, they handled the orphan child very well in this situation and raised him into a functioning member of society

[–] Daft_ish@lemmy.world 1 points 10 months ago* (last edited 10 months ago)

That's what it is about lemy. You are all control freaks. It's very unappealing.

[–] MobBarley700@lemmy.world 4 points 10 months ago

Hollywood logic: I know, let's sing a song!

[–] FlyingSquid@lemmy.world 4 points 10 months ago

Personally, I liked Rosencrantz and Guildenstern better when they died.

[–] problematicPanther@lemmy.world 4 points 10 months ago

It's my problem free philosophy, nihilism.

[–] EvilEyedPanda@lemmy.world 3 points 10 months ago

I have, and it works.
