I've been a #Firefox user FOREVER. But with the direction of the recent Mozilla leadership, plus their treatment of @stevetex@mastodon.social has pushed mo over to moving to @Vivaldi@vivaldi.net

Sad, sad day. But they crossed enough lines that it's time. And @jon@vivaldi.net has been a strong advocate for the fediverse and the open web.

Vivaldi is not free software, and therefore not a suitable alternative to Firefox. LibreWolf seems fine.

@tchambers@indieweb.social @stevetex@mastodon.social @Vivaldi@vivaldi.net @jon@vivaldi.net same, already a few years ago.. Even tho I still have Firefox in some machines but my daily is definitely Vivaldi both mobile & desktop
Not coming back.

If I need a drastically private session I'll use @mullvadnet@mastodon.online browser

@tchambers@indieweb.social @stevetex@mastodon.social @Vivaldi@vivaldi.net @jon@vivaldi.net I think you'll be pleasantly surprised performance wise.

@tchambers@indieweb.social @stevetex@mastodon.social @Vivaldi@vivaldi.net @jon@vivaldi.net Welcome over. I’m loving Vivaldi once I tweaked the UI to my liking.

@tchambers@indieweb.social @jpthuot03@mstdn.ca @stevetex@mastodon.social @Vivaldi@vivaldi.net @jon@vivaldi.net I recently moved from Firefox (after 20-odd years) to Vivaldi for the same reasons.

@tchambers @stevetex @Vivaldi @jon

Yeah, I've moved over to Waterfox, and it seems to be pretty good so far. Lots of privacy and ad-blocking right out of the box.

@jpthuot03 @tchambers @stevetex @Vivaldi @jon Waterfox is great for legacy compatibility, especially if you need to run an old flash site. It lacks some modern features though.

@mike @tchambers @stevetex @Vivaldi @jon

I don't know enough to know enough, it would seem. I just looked at a list of 'best open source alternatives to Firefox" and picked the top one.

Sell me on Vivaldi, then, if you have a moment. Does it handle add-ons/extensions? I use Proton suite of everything, so the Pass extension would be most important.

I'm using Brave on my android now.

@maybit @jpthuot03 @mike @stevetex @Vivaldi @jon Not being 100 percent open source is not a show stopper for me -but supporting open web standards is a MUST - and they are super solid on that.
