It's much more efficient space wise.

It's there. Hetzner helped with issuing a lets encrypt cert for the mitm proxy. The only reason they got caught was because they forgot to renew it. So while the real owner had all certs in order, the mitm proxy was serving an expired one.

I was looking into it, but the more I learn about it the more I'm leaning towards something else - misskey, akkoma, etc. Same function, but, supposedly, fewer headaches hosting.

I host a lemmy instance.

As much as I dislike php - nextcloud seems to be developed in a decent way. Been running a personal publicly exposed instance for 7 years now - no security concerns so far.

I think none of us have to worry about privacy on hetzner too much - we're simply not that interesting.

Having said that, ideologically I cannot use them due to them facilitating a MitM attack. Not sure if this is the original, but if you're curious about the low level detail - you can read through it here.

I'm trying to use simplex, mainly for the instance's chat. 2 things to say:

  • notifications work perfectly even without play store
  • every device has a separate account - I can't reuse the same one. Not the end of the world, but it's really annoying

I guess it's similar to cooking in cast iron - it's effective, just not a be-all-end-all solution.

Find an instance that blocks grad. Mine does.

There's a public /instances endpoint exposed on all servers by default - check the blocked tab.

Will try to squeeze in a 1v4 game of aoe4 against easy bots. Assuming kid goes to sleep early enough :)

Would love to get better to increase the difficulty, but a few matches a week just isn't enough 😮‍💨

It would set a somewhat dangerous precedent, but the alternative is war on EU soil. Brussels should absolutely invoke article 7 on Hungary.

Times out for me as well

Amazing milestone!

Also testing federation

Just wanted to say that the upgrade process was really simple. So far so good! 🤞

It feels like something is different visually, but I can't put my finger on it.

Essentially title. I now have 8 users listed as banned on my instance, although I have not banned anyone, yet:

@outsittingjay@lemmy.blahaj.zone
@okiloki@feddit.de
@FrantixGE@lemmy.fmhy.ml
@Augusto_Pinochet@feddit.cl
Alchemy
@Kaleidoskop@feddit.de
@Revelator@lemmings.basic-domain.com
@PepeSilvia@lemmy.world
@cl0ud5@latte.isnot.coffee

Is this a bug or feature?

In case your instance does not federate to something you would like it to, follow these steps:

  • Go to your instance URL in a web browser - https://lemmy.cafe
  • Click Communities
  • Enter something in format !community@instance, e.g. [!general@lemmy.cafe](/c/general@lemmy.cafe). Click the search button.
  • Nothing will show up, give it a couple of seconds
  • Click Communities again
  • Select All
  • Your searched community should now be on the list
  • Click Subscribe next to it
  • ???
  • Profit!

I can initiate it via a browser on a desktop as well as the mobile, but the app never returns the search results. Am I missing something?
