Well this is how I found out he died. He deserved much worse for what he did. For those who don't know, read at your own risk: Ian Watkins.

With the unfathomable uncertainty that government employees have faced this year, who can really say what will happen in regards to back pay, RIFs, etc. illegal lines have already been crossed, and I imagine there will be years and years of lawsuits. Personally I still have a sliver of hope that our laws will be upheld one way or another (either by the admin realizing they need to follow the law, or by force of the courts) -- despite much evidence to the contrary.

I hope this is just another empty threat they don't follow through on, even though the memo alone has undoubtedly caused more stress to the government employees. If they try to actually withhold back pay and the courts stop them, then it will at least help give credit to the courts upholding the law. And if the courts allow this to happen... Well, I keep hearing how we are living in unprecedented times, so I also wouldn't be too surprised at this point.

Jeremy by Pearl Jam is the song that came to mind from this question. The fucking chorus is so bad, I used to like pearl jam and that song made me hate them forever

It's funny bc bob Dylan wrote amazing songs, but his performance of his own music sucked compared to anyone who covered his music

Ahh like potatoes. What other veggies require cooking?

How big is your grow op? Like how many plants you got going on there? I'm super jealous, my tomatoes have been decimated by bugs and blossom end rot, and I've been a bad plant parent since work and life and brutal heat have been kicking my ass this summer

Not to mention the dangers of bootlegging when you don't know what you're doing. Methanol is suuuper toxic, and there were many people accidentally poisoned while making their own alcohols during prohibition. Shoot, just look at how dangerous it is to buy street drugs now with fentanyl everywhere these days. Ideally there should be regulation to protect consumers. Random drug dealers as well as corporations have proven themselves untrustworthy, and most drugs/alcohol have some medicinal/spiritual/sociocultural applications, so outright illegalization results in a net negative.

Interesting, I was wondering why they chose Amanita muscaria rather than one of the psilocybin shrooms. Maybe bc Amanita is prettier?

Thank you, the seeds add an awful texture imo

Local foraging: edible and medicinal flora native to the area, along with which plants to avoid. And perhaps less practical, but I'm partial to local wildlife identification because it's fun :D

Someone else already mentioned comms, and I just want to add that this is a very valuable thing. Building a network of trustworthy people in your community and teaching them how to program and use radios would be absolutely life saving in emergency/disastrous situations. Maybe it's the prepper in me, but it's good to prepare for the worst and hope for the best with the current climate.

I'd say a series of basic survival courses that could be broken down by topic:

  • First aid/CPR
  • How to start a fire without a lighter
  • Building shelter
  • Wilderness survival
  • Methods for obtaining potable water

Not to mention all the dependencies for everything, I've gone multiple layers deep trying to install dependencies for the dependencies just to use a single module. Tbf I've mostly used Linux for bioinformatics so perhaps the problem for me is biologists creating software for other biologists and none are truly computer scientists (including myself)

I'm unfortunately not there physically to help, but my mom has this light switch she needs to remove temporarily and replace the plate. Her "handyman" installed it 'brand new' within the past few years. I told her it looked like it was from the 80s haha. Anyways, she apparently cannot remove the knob for the life of her, shouldn't the knob be able to simply pull off without breaking?

It's on everything, my fingernails are glued to my skin underneath, I hate everything and most of all I hate spray foam.

Thanks for letting me rant. I normally read instructions before using a product and now I'm avoiding the room where it's on everything... How fucked am I?

Update: We've cleaned most of it up from the room... Our hands, not so much lol. I appreciate the advice and support, hopefully y'all got a good laugh on our behalf :)

Ps. It works great as a diy wax for hairy arms!

I woke up and all I see are memes about trouts
