Oh, good to know! I will look at other options then

Subjectively speaking, after switching to Piefed I feel like "the internet is back".

Engaging conversation, good tools for filtering the front page to your liking, and the audience seems generally speaking more mature. I do expect that to change if the platform grows in size.

They could've included in the title the amount of cybertrucks (2). Smells like clickbait

Thanks for bringing this to my attention! I installed both Organic Maps and Streetcomplete on my phone now.

Yeah I think it's very subjective and this one anedcote is just that.

In Germany cash is preferred in most places, and that makes tracking payments difficult. This is not the case in most other european countries. That's an another anecdote for you.

This sounds like a pretty good description of the situation.

I would add the seeming lack of true alternatives, as dems have repeatedly dropped the ball in the last few decades.

Pocket used to be on my list, but it was unfortunately shut down. Now Joplin web clipper took its place. I still miss Pocket.

This article was right up my alley. I've been considering buying a cheapo smartwatch. I suppose this one couldn't be used as a mp3 player for jogging though.

It's not a bug, it's a feature

If you're a musician, MiniDexed or if you're into stage lights or otherwise need a DMX-controller: Qlc+

I don't recommend RPi1 for Pi-hole... It's underpowered and might become a network bottleneck. Speaking out of experience here

Glad to hear I'm not alone with these thoughts!

I propose, as a counter movement, automatic engagement; Instead of "liking" or "upvoting", leave a comment every time you see something you support. And try to abstain from commenting on ragebait or otherwise intentional attention seeking. If enough people start doing this, the algorithm should start adapting to prefering more substantial or positive material, right? I know it sounds naive, but worth a shot!

I want to not see a certain post on my feed, but don't feel like it deserves a downvote, block, or the complete instance to be hidden. How do I do this?

I have set comments default sorting to Hot in my profile settings, but whenever I open a post, its comments are sorted by New by default. Can I change this default behaviour somehow?
