Been having a lot of feelings about here lately, due to both this and the friendlysock ban (you may or may not remember, but I quit using the site for six years due to his behavior). To be clear, I think the ban is fine, even though he and I came to a thing closer to understanding recently, but the kind of behavior regularly on display in LLM related threads feels like it would be ban worthy in threads about any other topic. I’m not sure why it gets such a pass, especially when the site is clearly willing to ban users for bad behavior (which to be clear, I do think is a good thing). Honestly I think banning the topic would make this community look better, I think, at this point. But also maybe I’m overreacting, I dunno, this thread in particular has caused me a lot of… something, today. Maybe I’ll write more or DM you later, maybe even in a few days.”

@self @gerikson today i learned about existence of one richard feldman, programmer, podcaster, author of the roc language and quite a vicious promoter of the confabulation machines.

you'd be entirely unsurprised to see him quote lunduke as an information source.
