Beautiful, thanks for sharing.

I know your budget us $300ish but I'd try to get your hands on a prusa. Used mk3's might be near that price point. But the mk4 prints so much faster.

The entire prusa ecosystem is awesome, almost every part is printable or easily replaced.

@salty_chief@lemmy.world I expect you to hand out flowers now, or fuck off.

Well yeah, didn't they wreck their helicopter and have to blow it up?

Still, isn't this just biting the hand that feeds you? Whatever...

Wait, isn't openai basically reliant in Microsoft for hosting as well as most of their product offerings? And doesn't Microsoft own LinkedIn? Or am I out of the loop.

I made a tidal playlist You might like. It has some new and old bands all in this genre.

Its designed to play in order.

Edit: its for me. I made it for me, so it might not work for your head but it puts me in a state that I need sometimes.

Came here to say Framework 16. They are nice boring silver. I have one and yes it runs hot, yes it's loud when the fans are maxed, but it's a pretty effective gaming computer I can pack up and take in my travels.

I just watched a thing on the expensive mustang gtd. They do use 3d printed titanium for some pieces, but they didn't go into much detail.

Point I want to make though, it always starts on the expensive things, then advances as the tech gets better. If Ford is using it for basically hand built mustangs, it's only a matter of time before we see it on normal production vehicles.

Just got an email from Murena that /e/os is available for the fp6.

I printed one of the ukuleles on printables.

I designed my own wall hooks, those are pretty great.

Made a stove knob to replace the broken one on my range.

Made a shelf for my freezer out of petg because the original one didn't fit properly and kept falling.

But the crown for me is a dentist office had this little bite block that people would bite down on when they did a 360 xray. The company wasn't making it anymore so they were cleaning it and reusing it. I bought some of that anti bacterial pla and reverse engineered the bite block. Mine wasn't perfect but it was close enough. Made them like 75 of them.

I made this planter (<- imgur gallery) to sell at a pair of craft fairs I'm attending this month and next. I needed something small enough I could fit a few of them on the 6 foot table. I can make them in any color but I love how the black and white turned out.

I would like to have one with a plant in it to showcase it on the table and was hoping you all would have some suggestions (this community always has great suggestions!)

It's about 4 inches tall and 6 inches wide.

Let me know if you have any more questions.

We planted both raspberries and strawberries over the last few years and are getting so many we can't eat them all. We give them away, but is there something better we can do with them?

Edit: thanks for all the great responses. I think we're going to freeze them.

I know pre launch there were issues with the fan noise. I've just bought a 16 and it hits 71db when playing cyberpunk, and still 70 when playing rimworld. I've reached out to support and they didn't have much to offer, (reset bios to defaults, disassemble and ensure nothing stuck in the fan.)

It's virtually silent at idle and even when gaming on battery it's not very loud. Has anyone figured out a better fan solution?

EDIT: I've discovered the project fw-fanctrl. I made a custom profile that doesn't do much until the cpu hits higher temps then ramps to max much later. Will see how that works. I might post my profile if it works well enough.

EDIT2: It occurred to me, some of you all might be interested in what I did. Here is the step by step I think. I'm on Fedora 42 so you might need to do something more for your OS and I might have missed a step in my notes. I added a profile that doesn't do much until 75C and ramps to 100% at 95C. I just played a game of Beyond all reason and I'm pretty sure it never got to 85C even.

First clone the repo:

git clone https://github.com/TamtamHero/fw-fanctrl.git

cd fw-fanctrl

pip install build --user

sudo ./install.sh

Just a couple checks to see if it's doing what we think:

systemctl status fw-fanctrl

Can leave this running to see any output:

journalctl -u fw-fanctrl -f

Now, find the fw-fanctrl config.json, mine was here in /etc

sudo nano /etc/fw-fanctrl/config.json

Add this section to the json (Be sure you're comma's and brackets match!)

"super-quiet": {
  "fanSpeedUpdateFrequency": 5,
  "movingAverageInterval": 40,
  "speedCurve": [
    { "temp": 0, "speed": 0 },
    { "temp": 55, "speed": 0 },
    { "temp": 65, "speed": 15 },
    { "temp": 75, "speed": 25 },
    { "temp": 85, "speed": 50 },
    { "temp": 95, "speed": 100 }
  ]
}

Then edit the defaultStrategy value to be super-quiet

"defaultStrategy": "super-quiet",

Restart using systemctl:

sudo systemctl restart fw-fanctrl

I've been watching Rob Dahm for a long time and he's been documenting an old indycar he got his hands on with the awesome cosworth turbo v8. Its super fascinating. I've been trying to find others and the stuff I am finding isn't quite the same.

Looking for more "doing it on a budget" vs like Ferrari's cliente program.

First, huge shoutout to @restingboredface@sh.itjust.works for the inspiration! You gave me some great ideas, but the spider was perfect because my spider plant had a runner that needed to get planted. Link to the imgur album

🕷️ Say hello to my Happy Spider Friend!

It’s a spider-shaped plant pot with:

Built-in drainage system

Removable tray

Detachable legs for safe shipping

A weird/cute vibe that’s perfect for spider plants or succulents

I made it for folks who love quirky décor, Halloween year-round, or just want something fun on their shelf. Think I'll make one in black and purple next because I think it would be adorable.

Check it out here: Support Artisans Co-op Or on that other retailer

Would love to hear what you think or see your own weird planters too 👇

Hey all. One of my hobbies is designing and 3d printing simple plant pots. I usually give the first one to my elderly neighbor because she got me into the idea years ago.

Anyone have an idea or a need for a planter I can try to design? I generally like more minimalist themes.

I've been trying to find a car audio community. So far I've not been successful. I've got some questions about upgrading an android auto head unit. Anyone have some suggestions?

I had a customer that sent me a picture of a heart shaped succulent planter she found on pinterest, and said, "Can you make it like Minecraft" This is the result.

Then she ghosted me and didn't buy it. 😂

Anyway, I planted some succulents in it I got at the store and now it sits on my counter.

EDIT: I made an Imgur post with more pictures if you are interested.

With bitwarden changing to at least email auth required, I'm one of those that stores my email creds there. I don't want to risk losing my email so it seems I need to use an Authenticator. For work, I have microsoft auth but that makes me want to die a little.

EDIT: I appreciate you all, thank you.

Hey all, probably better places to ask this but you all know everything. I got a oneplus 10 pro, and it has a very faint microphone icon in the top right. It's not there all the time, but I've noticed it with firefox, and a few other apps.

I messed around with the mic permissions but nothing seemed to get rid of it.

What is it, and how do I make it not there?

I have been spending a lot of time working remotely with my laptop in random locations. And usually just plug my mouse in via the USB dongle. But just curious if there is a noticeable battery difference doing this? Seems like Bluetooth would be better because it's already powering other things anyway.

Edit: seems like it's Bluetooth. Going to have to change my habits. Thanks all.

She's growing up, and she's got a framework 13 laptop with fedora 40, which is great, but she's been using hand me down peripherals.

She'd love a decent mechanical KB as she likes the clicky clicky of the keys, but the last one I got her, a Lofree, basically bit the dust in no time.

She's SUPER into the aesthetics but doesn't want RGB led's, but DOES like a nice backlit keyboard.

When searching for it, amazon, best buy and the rest just pollute the results, so it's actually difficult to decide what to get her. Her birthday is coming up so this will be her main gift.

What have you all had good luck with that might be aesthetically pleasing, that the quality wasn't trash like Lofree.

EDIT: thank you for all your suggestions, I've sent her a bunch of links to look at and she's going through them now. I'll try to remember to post back what she picks.
