It's different for everyone. The pain experienced varies wildly and for different durations. Some people get aspirin after and others get an opiate. Some people get laughing gas before/during and others a valium or xanax. There's also a semi rare condition where you experience pain long after the procedure.

Yeah the BBC has been credibly accused of this and surely other MSM sources. In this exact case, the detained are quite actually alleging mistreatment, which has been corroborated by others there, but not proven. The IDF thugs are responding to the allegations with a statement, they don't allege back. I dunno, of all the examples of double standards, this one seems most innocuous, but i do take your point.

I get the semantics, but "allege" is standard journalistic practice. Reporting on it is calling it out.

You talk about islam as though it's a monolith, which is ignorant. Have you met any muslims? Do you know the difference between the Taliban & Hamas & the gov't of Iran? Shia vs Sunni?

I hate religion as much as the next edgy leftist, but believing the genocide of a people is somehow not noteworthy or should continue unabated is reprehensible

I mean two things can be bad at once? Israel is conducting a genocide no matter how you slice it.

I get it! For those like me who are lacking context, here's a decent article:

Eh? https://www.npr.org/2023/03/21/1164916991/looking-back-on-shocking-revelations-u-s-forces-tortured-iraqis-at-abu-ghraib

Im not old enough to remember any reporting at the time, but I have found NPR to be one of the best mainstream sources of news. These critiques are valid, but feel the typical leftist purity test

I mean, I agree that it's stupid to not be an environmentalist, but it sounds like you're criticizing NPR for correctly using the english language and adhering to journalistic practices

He's been impeached twice tbf

NPR is highly critical of [insert atrocity here]. I doubt you can find an example where they're not.

That's just how headlines work. "Experts say X," "Politician says Y" -- that's inoffensive.

Environmentalist is a well-understood term with meaning. There are people who are not environmentalists. Yeah it is ridiculous that anyone isn't

I have listened to dozens of stories on climate change, pollution, etc. over the years. I mean look up "NPR fossil fuels" and you'll see pages upon pages of critical, factual reporting. I'm not sure they're beholden to the fossil fuel industry - have any more info?
