Perma banned because I wished c-ncer on a pro-Israel troll. Is that an earned ban you guys think?

[–] Makhno@lemmy.world 16 points 1 hour ago (2 children)

I got banned when I saw someone say trans kids should be hunted in schools, and I told them I wish they'd get hit with a brick.

[–] RedFrank24@lemmy.world 2 points 19 minutes ago

I got banned for making fun of Kemi Badenoch when she said autistic people are privileged. I said maybe she's jealous that there are people that know more about trains than her. That was apparently enough to warrant a permanent ban.

[–] Jaybird@lemmy.world 2 points 59 minutes ago

Thats be wise you where too much of a pacifist in your response.

[–] Lucky_777@lemmy.world 14 points 1 hour ago (1 children)

Hell, I said all Nazis can go die or kill themselves. Perm banned. Reason why I'm here. Fuck that place.

[–] Goodmorningsunshine@lemmy.world 5 points 59 minutes ago

Samesies. All I said was Nazis should get punched. This is a much better place all around, so fuck spez

[–] Kualdir@feddit.nl 2 points 13 minutes ago

I got shadowbanned after finally actively posting... On r/BuyFromEU... idk man

[–] AbidanYre@lemmy.world 65 points 4 hours ago

Does that mean spez is getting banned for being a mod on r/jailbait?

[–] Yerbouti@sh.itjust.works 18 points 3 hours ago* (last edited 1 hour ago) (3 children)

Does saying "The only good fascist are very dead fascist" counts? What if I add that USA is a fascist country now? Will saying Donald is a pedophile still counts (I got banned for it already lol)? What about saying my favorite sport is nazi punching? And if I add that there's no such thing as "roman salute"?

Is Reddit about to drop a new t-shirt line "Protect fascist's feeling" or something?

[–] Nemean_lion@lemmy.ca 11 points 1 hour ago (1 children)

I said we used to have a method of dealing with traitors. Got banned for it.

Fucking done with reddits shit.

[–] underfreyja@lemmy.world 5 points 1 hour ago

Same, in January, I said something to the line of traitors used to be publicly hanged, now they're elected and got banned for it. That was the last straw, came here right away and was happy to find the place striving compared to last time I tried it.

[–] bitjunkie@lemmy.world 6 points 1 hour ago

You mean if someone said something like, "Trump and Epstein raping a 13-year-old is a matter of court record."?

[–] Wilco@lemm.ee 6 points 2 hours ago

Yes, this is the exact mentality.

I got banned yesterday for basic "Eat the Rich" quotes with the occasional Luigi or Guillotine animated gif thrown in here or there.

Reddit is cracking down on anticapitalists for sure.

[–] frog_brawler@lemmy.world 8 points 2 hours ago

Reddit is a piece of shit.

[–] Ceruleum@lemmy.wtf 20 points 3 hours ago (1 children)

At this point, getting banned at reddit is a badge of honor.

[–] jaemo@sh.itjust.works 10 points 1 hour ago (1 children)

Uh...the "badge of honor" would have been quitting back during api-gate and not looking back. Getting banned now just means one participated after that time, providing spez with traffic and value, and helped normalize the behaviour that is only just now a bridge too far.

Today, a ban is the "conciliatory prize of not thinking ahead".

[–] Lucky_777@lemmy.world 4 points 1 hour ago (2 children)

3rd party apps closing down I can see from a business point. Makes good business sense. Keep everyone on your shitty app and monetize it. I wasn't for it but understood the greedy fucks behind it.

Now it's just different. Banned for going against Nazis, just means they are in bed with Nazis. That's the last straw.

[–] kava@lemmy.world 1 points 8 minutes ago* (last edited 7 minutes ago)

just means they are in bed with Nazis

Fascism is always the best business decision. This is the inevitable result of capitalism. The institutions on a good decade are strong and resilient. Oligarchy, yes, but still a more or less free society.

Eventually though, there will be a series of crisis in succession that causes the establishment to weaken just enough for a strongman to slip in and take the reigns. In the 20th century it was the fallout from WW1 and the Great Depression. In our time it was COVID and the Ukraine + Israeli wars (and to some extent, 2008 housing crisis)

One key part of fascism is that it is almost paradoxical

a) A populist-driven ideology, which means it appeals to the lowest common denominator

b) An elitist-driven ideology, which means it idolizes and puts value in the elites of a society

What ends up happening is the state picks and chooses elite groups of people who end up running the show. So for example, if you are Zuckerberg or Musk or Bezos.. you know that if you play nice with Trump that he will reward you and you will have certain advantages by having a friend in an authoritarian government. You also know that if you don't play nice with Trump, he will try and hurt you using both legal and illegal mechanisms.

Therefore, the best investment you could make is aligning yourself with the fascist state.

This was always going to happen. Sort of like how humans eventually will catch a cold or develop cancer. The immune system on a good day is strong enough to repel these types of problems. But eventually, you will be under some stress for one reason or another and your immune system is not enough to stop the inevitable cold or what have you.

Makes good business sense. Keep everyone on your shitty app and monetize it. I wasn't for it but understood the greedy fucks behind it.

Not understanding how greed and control are different manifestations of fascism is still on you. Corporations always align with fascists because a corporation is essentially a small kingdom where a handful of Lords make all the decisions for the peasants (workers/consumers).

Plenty of us saw where this was headed because of the API drama.

reddit permabans you for vague interpretations of things they consider "threatening"

its already a thought crime zone.

[–] Petter1@lemm.ee 32 points 4 hours ago (2 children)

Lol, how is it even possible to upvote banned content? I mean, is it not deleted if banned?

[–] conicalscientist@lemmy.world 3 points 45 minutes ago (1 children)

It means accounts that consistently upvote posts that end up being banned.

The naive take is that this will remove bot/brigade swarms that are collaboratively boosting content that breaks site wide rules. You can derive ulterior motives from this if you want but I'm pretty sure that's the basic premise.

I have no doubt this will be leveraged by the far-right to sow more discord. They already have a history of raiding subreddits with false flag attacks to get them sanctioned until it escalates into full blown subreddit ban. This is all but formalizing the mechanism.

[–] finder585@lemmy.world 1 points 27 minutes ago

I think the real implication of the system is that Reddit will also start banning you for down-voting posts too.

[–] ILikeBoobies@lemmy.ca 20 points 3 hours ago* (last edited 3 hours ago) (3 children)

Banned after you upvote it

See something that’s pro-Luigi? That’s banned content

Pro-lemmy? That’s banned content

Upvoted a post about hypothetically killing a Republican? That’s banned content

Etc

[–] InputZero@lemmy.world 3 points 1 hour ago

This type of behavior is never tolerate on Reddit. You disagree with a Redditor, straight to ban. No trial, no nothing. There's no journalists. We'll have a special subreddit for journallists. Under represent a Republican, believe it or not ban. Over represent a Democrat, also ban. Reddit has the best users on the internet.

[–] Probius@sopuli.xyz 2 points 1 hour ago

They probably did this specifically because people were upvoting our favorite plumber.

[–] orize@lemmy.dbzer0.com 3 points 2 hours ago* (last edited 2 hours ago) (1 children)

I got banned on Reddit, not by moderators of the sub, but by site admins for saying I hold similar values about CEOs like Luigid did.

[–] MTK@lemmy.world 65 points 6 hours ago (14 children)

Basically declaring that they don't allow free speech.

"Hey, you have been liking things we disagree with and we need an echo chamber here, align with us or fuck off. Sincerely, the money hungry bitches of the internet! Also heil daddy musk!"

paywall it, have bot create content, ban all humans.

reddit is the internet of things.
