Welcome to the largest gaming community on Lemmy! Discussion for all kinds of games. Video games, tabletop games, card games etc.

Rules

1. Submissions have to be related to games

Video games, tabletop, or otherwise. Posts not related to games will be deleted.

This community is focused on games, of all kinds. Any news item or discussion should be related to gaming in some way.

2. No bigotry or harassment, be civil

No bigotry, hardline stance. Try not to get too heated when entering into a discussion or debate.

We are here to talk and discuss about one of our passions, not fight or be exposed to hate. Posts or responses that are hateful will be deleted to keep the atmosphere good. If repeatedly violated, not only will the comment be deleted but a ban will be handed out as well. We judge each case individually.

3. No excessive self-promotion

Try to keep it to 10% self-promotion / 90% other stuff in your post history.

This is to prevent people from posting for the sole purpose of promoting their own website or social media account.

4. Stay on-topic; no memes, funny videos, giveaways, reposts, or low-effort posts

This community is mostly for discussion and news. Remember to search for the thing you're submitting before posting to see if it's already been posted.

We want to keep the quality of posts high. Therefore, memes, funny videos, low-effort posts and reposts are not allowed. We prohibit giveaways because we cannot be sure that the person holding the giveaway will actually do what they promise.

5. Mark Spoilers and NSFW

Make sure to mark your stuff or it may be removed.

No one wants to be spoiled. Therefore, always mark spoilers. Similarly mark NSFW, in case anyone is browsing in a public space or at work.

6. No linking to piracy

Don't share it here, there are other places to find it. Discussion of piracy is fine.

We don't want us moderators or the admins of lemmy.world to get in trouble for linking to piracy. Therefore, any link to piracy will be removed. Discussion of it is of course allowed.

I pay $60 (or whatever), pay for my data connection, and get to play my game literally for years. It’s one of the cheapest forms of entertainment around. I get tons of value out of my purchase, it reduces stress, I get a sense of challenge out of it, and for the amount I spent I get a lot pf return.

Now if only health care were free. That’s just a bullshit statement and not even worth responding to. That said, In its current state it’s the opposite of video games. It’s expensive. The amount you put in is often not what you get out. It’s stressful.

Maybe the only way it’s like games is that someone can pull the plug on you when it’s not profitable anymore.

Right? I feel bad that it's beautiful outside and we're all inside playing games and streaming TV, but every time we leave the house as a family, it ends up costing me at least $100.

The problem is not this bloke. The problem is the people that voted for him.

Maybe. But in many areas, only one party realistically has a shot, so reps basically get elected in their primary process. So instead of needing a majority of the total population to win, you just need a plurality of the few who get involved in the primary process.

Blame the people involved in the primary process, not the people who only vote in the general election.

Congress need to fix big and large companies from firing people in masses every quarter and not hire people.

Newsmedia that repeat blatantly pro-fash talking points as headline grist, are complicit

[–] finitebanjo@lemmy.world 5 points 1 week ago

You know what, he's right. I'll go get off my ass to spend the evening running my 2 million dollar quarts mine and then swing by my 875k dollar quarts furnaces, weight seperation, flotation cells, and crystalization facility to create a bunch of semiconductor grade silicon used in solar and electronics production.

OH WAIT! I DON'T HAVE $3M FACILITIES TO RUN! Somebody else is out there doing the work that used to take a hundred men. The world doesn't need us all doing 12 hour days, the world wouldn't take us if we even offered.

nah they are playing video games all day because video games are more fun than toxic work environments and helping CEOs earn bonuses

I don‘t like to see the politics of this miserable country here.

Meanwhile the unemployment rate continues to be troublingly low, begging the question, "If not for immigration, who's going to fill the new fancy All-American manufacturing industries?"

[–] aesthelete@lemmy.world 5 points 1 week ago

Through what fucking program? Magic?

[–] maxwells_daemon@lemmy.world 5 points 1 week ago

As a young man, I'm just waiting for the AGI breakthrough, so it either fixes the fucking government, or wipes us out. Win-win.

[–] samlan@reddthat.com 5 points 1 week ago

Shit, they're on to me.

[–] melsaskca@lemmy.ca 3 points 1 week ago

All jobs are service industry now unless you're somebody's kid or relative. Things changed bigly over the last 20 years.

Sometimes the only way to win is not to play.

But also Johnson is stupid.

So time to remove the free healthcare benefits from this congress member

[–] flandish@lemmy.world 2 points 1 week ago

Cool. Until there is no more profit and no more billionaires, there should be no labor and free healthcare.

[–] Pyr_Pressure@lemmy.ca 2 points 1 week ago

Lol. I have free healthcare and I played videogames every fucking chance I get because it makes me happy, but it's pretty rare since I worked 278 hours in May.

[–] Salamanderwizard@lemmy.world 2 points 1 week ago

Mike, just cause you're a shit parent who can't talk to his kid, doesn't mean you gotta make the rest of us suffer.

[–] xep@fedia.io 2 points 1 week ago

Everyone who lives here plays video games all day and our healthcare isn't even completely free, the burden is just shared by nationalization. Video games are such a menace to society!

Got laid off. I now have two jobs. One at a store for the health insurance. Which I’ll lose in an upcoming strike. Which is most likely to happen. Because fuck corporate. Then I have my start up job that is a side job till they can afford to pay me salary. I make all commissions now. But sales are a tough thing to get in this field. Thankful for Ai to help email so many people.

Working isn't worth doing.
