Rian Johnson says he scrapped 'Star Wars' trilogy was 'very conceptual' and 'never' had an 'outline or treatment or anything.'

Whoever decided the sequels should pass between him and JJ truly ruined them. All these dudes wanting to make their Star Wars hit the big screen is why it came out a garbled mess.

I'm sorry, there were sequels? People have also told me there were 'prequels' but that's just silly.

Next you're going to tell me there was a Highlander II, or III, or ... god make it stop.

The cash must flow

Remember our agreement, Murdoch.

The boy is mine. And gladly there was only one Highlander.

Silence! We do not speak its name!

Yeah uhm just a collection of broken pieces and scraps of concepts to be glued together by bitter subversion, like all you had for that last jedi movie, right?

The Last Jedi is still the best of the new trilogy in my opinion.

I think if you cut out the unnecessary side trip with the casino that it’s a decent movie, and yeah, probably the best of the three either way.

My issue with it beyond that was that Johnson and Abrams didn’t really try to keep their writing cohesive. TRoS was a hot mess because of that.

That problem started with the first though. Not giving any clue what Rey's background was and then deciding that he didn't like Johnson's take on it was JJ Abrams' fault…

Most of it is on Abrams’ shoulders, I agree. Johnson reportedly asked him if he was cool that his script was going to be a big departure, and Abrams gave him the green light.

Abrams famously cannot follow through with anything he sets up, so this isn’t a surprise to me, merely a disappoint that he was allowed to screw up the only sequel trilogy we’re ever going to get.

It’s ok if it stays like that.

AKA stop asking me about it

Well, let's see, it def had:
- a clumsy, unwise, but loveable main char
- a comedy puppet & a rebellious cool char
- an evil apprentice with a color scheme
- a Palpatine
- ~~terrorist~~ guerrilla actions against the state
- a "star" (moon? spaceship?) of death with no survivors among the 100s of thousand crew, rip

/s (well, like 40% sarcasm, the 60% is prob just what would have happened by the end)
