I tend not to believe felon rapist pedos.

[–] 0ndead@infosec.pub 89 points 2 days ago (4 children)

He’ll just try to never leave office

[–] givesomefucks@lemmy.world 33 points 2 days ago (2 children)

He'll try to cancel the election, but the states run their own elections. So at most all hell accomplish is red states not holding elections and the Dem candidate winning in a landslide.

Then shit really gets crazy

[–] moobythegoldensock@infosec.pub 27 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Result: Democrat candidate 269, Trump 0

Supreme Court: “Goes to House of Representatives lol”

House of Representatives: “Trump wins lol”

Supreme Court: “Trump can’t run for a third term, but House selecting him it totally legit lol”

[–] dhork@lemmy.world 19 points 2 days ago (1 children)

But it's the new Congress that would select the President in this manner, and if Red states don't hold elections, they can't send any representatives to that new Congress.

The rules don't matter, they do whatever they can get away with.

[–] Sanctus@lemmy.world 14 points 2 days ago

Please fucking let this happen. I would be so torqued.

[–] DrSleepless@lemmy.world 16 points 2 days ago

Exactly, you don’t have to run if you declare yourself King

[–] prototact@lemmy.zip 4 points 2 days ago

If he does leave office, it's possible many people will go after him if they can. I know the SCOTUS decided the president can do whatever he wants with legal impunity, but I am sure he can still be dragged into a lot of legal battles given the extravagant number and level of crimes he is committing on a weekly basis. Why put himself through that in his last few years when he can just stay on top and shit on everybody, enjoying himself with our suffering? This guy is all in, he has made a new playbook for the oligarchy, and he is never going back unless the rest of the oligarchs decide he is a liability. Even then, he wont give up easily. My guess is he will leave the White House in a coffin (either old age or hanged by a mob)

[–] FreshParsnip@lemmy.ca 5 points 2 days ago

Damn, I so wanted him to literally be dragged out kicking and screaming in 2021

[–] switcheroo@lemmy.world 27 points 2 days ago

Yam Tits also said he would leave the country if he didn't win the election Biden won...

All that old bastard says is lies

[–] AllNewTypeFace@leminal.space 56 points 2 days ago

Technically, if there are no more elections, he won’t be running.

[–] tinned_tomatoes@feddit.uk 48 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Can you imagine if Obama said something like this during his second term?

[–] FreshParsnip@lemmy.ca 16 points 2 days ago (1 children)

I have an aunt who was convinced Obama would declare martial law to stay president. She's also a covid denier. She also has no internal consistency and would probably deny saying Obama would declare martial law, just like she denies repeatedly saying the world would end in 2012

[–] liuther9@feddit.nl 2 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Does she tell you how flat Earth is

[–] FreshParsnip@lemmy.ca 1 points 1 day ago

I don't think I've heard her talk about flat earth but she probably believes it. She's obsessed with the Mandela effect

[–] cabron_offsets@lemmy.world 29 points 2 days ago (2 children)

Orange traitor fuck may be dead by then.

[–] kmartburrito@lemmy.world 47 points 2 days ago (2 children)

Be the change you want to see

[–] bear@lemmy.blahaj.zone 2 points 2 days ago

Not if he creates a nuclear apocalypse; don't jinx it.

[–] sidelove@lemmy.world 6 points 2 days ago

From your lips to God's ears.

He's laying out two options:

He'll be king and will have done away with voting for the presidency and federal government. No need to run for non existant elections. Perhaps even settled legislation to have someone of his choosing take the throne.

Or:

He is realizing that the path he put his country on is one only of destruction and chaos.
A good chance it'll be so bad there is no path to repair a rerun of his governing can bring about. So he might grab a plane out of the county at the earliest opportunity.

That requires self-awareness which Trumpie does not have at all.

[–] altphoto@lemmy.today 2 points 1 day ago

Also he'll be 83 and way past old. Like he'll need depends maximum absorption old.

[–] FreshParsnip@lemmy.ca 14 points 2 days ago

Maybe that's his way of admitting he has a terminal illness

[–] NocturnalMorning@lemmy.world 17 points 2 days ago

Thats nice of him, maybe he'll do us all another favor and have a massive coronary. Not like the law already says he's ineligible for a third term...

[–] Redditsux@lemmy.world 14 points 2 days ago

Don't hold your breath.

[–] BrianTheeBiscuiteer@lemmy.world 10 points 2 days ago

If they make him Speaker and the two MAGAts ahead of him resign then he won't have to 'run' for the office. That's assuming we get another Presidential election.

[–] crandlecan@mander.xyz 10 points 2 days ago (2 children)

Because... The law as it was wouldn't allow for it, no?

[–] WeirdGoesPro@lemmy.dbzer0.com 6 points 2 days ago (1 children)

When has a republican ever let a pesky little law stop them from attempting total domination?

[–] crandlecan@mander.xyz 1 points 6 hours ago (1 children)

At the end of the first Civil War 👍

[–] crandlecan@mander.xyz 1 points 6 hours ago

... and we're regretting that ever since 😒😞

[–] Zaktor@sopuli.xyz 0 points 1 day ago

If that were the reason, he wouldn't say "probably".

[–] HubertManne@piefed.social 7 points 2 days ago

Yeah I probably won't take over all of his assets. Its still up in the air. Who knows.

[–] Fredselfish@lemmy.world 1 points 2 days ago (1 children)

If Trump doesn't leave when term ends he will have to stay in the white house and never leave. So no more rallies for him. I hope he trys and the next president orders him dragged from the office in chains.

[–] Lightor@lemmy.world 2 points 1 day ago

Problem is he has the whole government in his pocket. It's optimistic to think the election will be fair or that anyone would be willing to put chains on him. He fired everyone who doesn't bow to him.
