These fucknuts work themselves into a panic over their own propaganda.

That said, I would have much preferred that the author of the article didn't just mindlessly regurgitate his made up statistics and instead followed up with actual statistics.

Trump decides there should be a new reality that benefits him in some way. Then the marching orders get sent down through the party. Do whatever it takes to create this new reality.

[–] oh_@lemmy.world 52 points 1 week ago (1 children)

DC police need to pull him over and give him a ticket for not wearing a seatbelt.

[–] KnitWit@lemmy.world 15 points 1 week ago

Probably driving around with no doors on the jeep, wearing flips flops and no seatbelt, talking about ‘I’m afraid of carjackers.’ Just stop with this nonsense MarkWayne.

[–] P00ptart@lemmy.world 49 points 1 week ago (3 children)

Alright, please tell me how not wearing a seat belt helps in a carjacking in any way?

[–] LovingHippieCat@lemmy.world 32 points 1 week ago

It's actually incredibly helpful! For the carjackers. They can just pull you out instead of having to threaten you to unbuckle and then pull you out. It skips a whole step!

[–] spamfajitas@lemmy.dbzer0.com 25 points 1 week ago (1 children)

I don't wear a seatbelt when I'm in DC and I've never been carjacked once...I just walk, take the metro and ride an occasional bus to get around.

[–] Omegamanthethird@lemmy.world 2 points 1 week ago (3 children)

So is not wearing a seat belt a euphemism for not driving? What a weird way to say that statement.

[–] dylanmorgan@slrpnk.net 9 points 1 week ago

Not in the senator’s case. He was talking about how he drives himself, and doesn’t wear a seatbelt in his jeep in case he gets carjacked because he “doesn’t want to be slowed down.”

Because we’re all familiar with the scourge of carjackings that became murders when people took the 5 seconds to undo their seatbelts.

[–] spamfajitas@lemmy.dbzer0.com 3 points 1 week ago (1 children)

The implication is that I don't have to worry about any of it because I just don't drive in DC. Public transportation in DC is perfectly fine when there's at least one functioning escalator.

[–] Omegamanthethird@lemmy.world 1 points 1 week ago

Oh damn, sorry. I thought you were quoting him rather than expanding with your own experience.

Still not sure why the Senator in the post doesn't wear a seat belt.

[–] Tollana1234567@lemmy.today 1 points 1 week ago

euphemism, for being a human projectile onto the road when, the vehicle suddenly stops at high speeds.

I can't think of a scenario. It gives you time to put the car in reverse and knock them down with the open door.

[–] Warl0k3@lemmy.world 33 points 1 week ago

Charles Darwin please take the wheel.

[–] crunchy@lemmy.dbzer0.com 18 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Sounds like a self-correcting problem to me.

[–] Treczoks@lemmy.world 1 points 1 week ago

Hopefully self-correcting.

[–] QuoVadisHomines@sh.itjust.works 18 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Aren't you more likely to get into a rear end collision than get carjacked?

[–] Quill7513@slrpnk.net 15 points 1 week ago

infinitely. also, not having your seatbelt buckled makes you easier to carjack

[–] gointhefridge@lemmy.zip 17 points 1 week ago (1 children)

That’s stupid and against the law.

[–] floofloof@lemmy.ca 1 points 1 week ago

Probably qualifies as Republican Party policy then.

[–] Kit@lemmy.blahaj.zone 13 points 1 week ago

My ex always refused to wear a seat belt in Ubers because it "helps prevent being abducted by sex traffickers". He was a 6"3" 450lb black man. I don't think the seat belt would have made much of a difference.

Apparently it was some nonsense he heard on TikTok. I wouldn't be surprised if this was the same.

[–] VeryVito@lemmy.ml 11 points 1 week ago

In his defense, Sen. Markwayne Mullin is — and always has been — a gigantic coward with no respect for US law or his fellow Americans. He is genuinely scared of everything and everyone around him.

[–] yesman@lemmy.world 9 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Used to work with this fool who refused to wear a seat belt, but kept a gun in the glove-box "for protection".

[–] SpaceNoodle@lemmy.world 10 points 1 week ago (1 children)

You can just shoot the car crash and then it can't hurt you

[–] unknown@piefed.social 4 points 1 week ago

The only thing that can stop a car crash, is another car crash with a gun.

[–] OttoVonNoob@lemmy.ca 8 points 1 week ago

Is it difficult to take off a seat belt? It's nothing I've ever had trouble with. Hell, the fact you're probably in a sealed bullet-proof car, then jumping out is much more risky. Let alone the statistically higher even of getting in an accident.

[–] watson387@sopuli.xyz 7 points 1 week ago

What a cunt...

[–] EtAl@lemmy.dbzer0.com 5 points 1 week ago

Apparently, Markwayne Mullin is named after his two uncles. My guess is one of those uncles is actually his dad. I don't know which one, and neither did his mom.

[–] twice_hatch@midwest.social 4 points 1 week ago

TOUCH THAT STOVE

[–] stoy@lemmy.zip 4 points 1 week ago
[–] Formfiller@lemmy.world 4 points 1 week ago

Bet he doesn’t fear getting jacked on the DL by dudes on grinder though

[–] hperrin@lemmy.ca 4 points 1 week ago

I hope he gets exactly what he deserves.

[–] phoenixz@lemmy.ca 4 points 1 week ago

Good

Another problem that eventually will resolve itself. Idiots like these will likely not heed other traffic safety rules like this stupid maximum speeds and such so soon enough he'll fold himself around a tree, ironically becoming one of those tree huggers he hates so much

[–] Tollana1234567@lemmy.today 3 points 1 week ago

wait til he flies out the front window, into a tree, or into the street.

[–] michaelmrose@lemmy.world 3 points 1 week ago (1 children)

So imagine that he IS car jacked. Someone presumably approaches his car and reveals a gun.

Does he... draw a gun every time someone approaches his car.

Draw a gun every time someone approaches his car while black

Use spider sense to figure out who the car jacker and shoot them first like John WIck

Have a 99% chance of being in a position wherein the thug has their gun drawn whilst he doesn't ensuring the act of attempting to draw will result in him getting shot.

Obviously someone could car jack you with a knife or even just a threat of physical force with their fists if they caught you outside your car but once you are in the car and buckled up I would assume short of a gun you would literally just lock the door and drive. If you are worried about being physically dragged out of your car the seatbelt would actually help.

Also most car jackings involve the bad guys actually approaching the car. If you DID want to do "something" the something would be shooting them.

Is he imagining jumping out with his fists of fury and chasing the fleeing thug and anticipating the belt slowing him down?

[–] MuskyMelon@lemmy.world 4 points 1 week ago

Nah, he keeps the seat belt off to run like a bitch.

[–] phoenixz@lemmy.ca 3 points 1 week ago

Whatever lie you need to tell to stick your tongue up Trump's ass, no?
