This is such a tricky subject.
You could go with a more strict gun regulations. Coupled with more help for vulnerable people. And free mental healthcare.
Or.
MUTHERFUDGING DRONES, bitches.

It's such a tricky subject. So tricky.

This isn't tik tok you can say Motherfucking.

[–] Zahille7@lemmy.world 46 points 1 month ago (3 children)

In fact I'd prefer if people just used the actual cuss words. Self-censoring is such a bullshit. Social media is a plague on our species.

[–] atomicbocks@sh.itjust.works 19 points 1 month ago (2 children)

I need more things to have a block censorship option. Like streaming music services often have a ‘block explicit’ option. I want a ‘block censored’ option.

America will do literally anything to ignore gun control and mental health.

[–] Fedizen@lemmy.world 60 points 1 month ago (1 children)

These things are going to get hacked and start shooting kids. Wtf are these idiots thinking.

[–] Aqarius@lemmy.world 18 points 1 month ago (2 children)

Probably "this is a completely untapped market for our killbots!"

"It's a bit like that movie The Matrix, where the agent can jump into the nearest person and immediately be good to go. We're a little bit like that—but we're the good guys,"

At last, zero self awareness, wow.

You can now do school shootings from the comfort of your own home. . . That's progress!

Article says there's a pepper ball launcher and a glass hammer, so this thing is mainly for surveillance and mild distractions, which is much better than I was prepared to read.

"Currently, an officer's job is to run toward gunfire, alone, with no support or intel—basically a standoff. With our drones, they're not alone; they know what the suspect looks like, what they're doing, and we take point around every corner.

"We usually find the shooter before they do and keep them occupied. Every officer who's seen this live has said they want it."

If this actually encourages them to do their jobs, great. If this is just a kickback to private industry and further militarizing schools while police still sit cowering, than I know where they can dock those drones...

It is funny how americans think that more guns will prevent gun violence. Then again, they think that more pills will prevent drug problem.

Fucking hilarious quote here:

"It's a bit like that movie The Matrix, where the agent can jump into the nearest person and immediately be good to go. We're a little bit like that—but we're the good guys," he added.

Oh yeah so it's kinda like the terrifying dystopian surveillance nightmare where people are oppressed at all times by an omnipresent, invincible, untouchable outer force that compels them to unquestionably follow the path laid out for them in life by their masters. But like, in a good way!

Too many guns leads to weekly school shootings.

US: We need more guns!

[–] phoenixz@lemmy.ca 33 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago) (3 children)

Yeah so we tried nothing and nothing worked!

Then we tried arming the teachers but they accidentally shot themselves and the students!

So now we're trying armed drones with AI doing the triggering because there just ain't any other solution to this problem!

I mean the entire world has this problem, every day we read about multiple countries facing multiple school shootings per day, every single day, and nobody found any solution ever!

So AI killer drones are the only way to move education forward, there is no other solution available Right?

I feel like someone is going to hack one of these and then do a school shooting

[–] ArmchairAce1944@discuss.online 11 points 1 month ago

You bet your ass. You think with Big Balls storing millions of people's data on unsecure servers and Las Vegas being slammed with a hack that would make Hollywood claim is unrealistic means there will be script kiddies ready with pre-made hacks that would make them kill people. This is cyberpunk 2077 level shit.

Next headline reads "armed drones were hacked and lead to worst systematic school shooting in history"

[–] Lushed_Lungfish@lemmy.ca 21 points 1 month ago

I think we know what the next step is here. Mass shooters start using armed drones.

[–] NigelFrobisher@aussie.zone 21 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago)

The only thing that can stop a bad guy with a drone is a good guy with a drone.

[–] ArmchairAce1944@discuss.online 20 points 1 month ago (7 children)

You know how most school shootings can be stopped in the US? Safe storage laws. Most of the time the shooter is an underage kid who got access to their parents' guns and went to shoot up the school. Obviously it wouldn't stop shit like Uvalde and Sandy Hook. But it would still stop a fuckload of smaller shootings we don't hear about because they are background noise at this point.

[–] Treczoks@lemmy.world 13 points 1 month ago

Next mass shooting headline: Bullied nerd hacks armed drones in school to extract bloody revenge.

As always, the American answer is more guns!

[–] AmieFromEarth@lemmy.world 20 points 1 month ago

I get more and more grateful to be born in Europe. The US is a real life satire fever dream at this point.

[–] YogaDouchebag@lemmy.world 19 points 1 month ago (2 children)

It’s funny how much they do just to circumvent gun control.

With more than 60 school shooting incidents reported in Florida alone since 2018, according to the K-12 School Shooting Database, educators and lawmakers have urgently sought innovative approaches to school safety.

No. No you haven't because every mindless idiot can fix this problem within a minute, had they have the interest to do so

BAN GUNS!

Aaaaaand problem solved.

My gut says when you have to say you are "the good guy" you are in fact "the bad guy."

[–] ChicoSuave@lemmy.world 15 points 1 month ago

Innocent children will die to trigger happy drone cops. It's going to be a remote controlled Uvalde.

[–] aeternum@lemmy.blahaj.zone 14 points 1 month ago

anything but do something about the guns. SMH

[–] Timecircleline@sh.itjust.works 13 points 1 month ago
[–] Adderbox76@lemmy.ca 12 points 1 month ago

Yay! Bullied tech nerds no longer have to bring their own gun! That's convenient for them.

[–] kbobabob@lemmy.dbzer0.com 12 points 1 month ago (4 children)

the drones were equipped with pepper rounds plus a glass breaker

That's still terrible to be at a school but I bet it would be a hell of a lot of fun to play around with. Like aerial battle bots.
