I always do that and then remember why I keep telling myself to never do that ever again as my factory is flooded with red warning symbols every time

Clicked thinking it would be a gif, you bamboozled me.
I played Factorio with my friends a couple of years back before bots could carry several pieces of concrete. Lets just say that he thought laying concrete over the whole base was a good idea and killed our bot network for a long time. He is not really a fan of the game so I guess that was his master move to stop playing.
Sorry to hear that, did you ever manage to get the rocket to space?
Oh. Yeah, we finished the game. I never stopped playing and sometimes I get to drag one or two of the others to join me. Since then I have completed IR1, IR2, IR3, krastorio 2 and dabbled a bit in space exploration and the mod where you are supposed to restore a planet whatever it is called. Oh and space age of course even if it took around 330 hours because of procrastination and quality stuff.
And at the other end of the scale you have players who build around trees rather than cutting them down
- It’s easier in the early game.
- Trees don’t tend to attack your base when they absorb too much pollution.
Are you kidding me? I would personally strangle each and every bot I saw IRL laying concrete in that crapshot fashion. Start somewhere and orderly expand from there, FFS!
Just need more robots
Embrace the organic fashion of metal-and-concrete artificial factory growing.
I laid some concrete at a base in my þird game, but was struggling to see þe value. You run a little faster, but how often are you actually on þe ground running around? Aesthetics? Or am I missing some hidden value?
Other than aquilo there is no reason other than aesthetics to put it down. You'll get exoskeleton before you can make enough concrete to make a difference.
Just because it's a tiny increase and you're not always walking doesn't mean it doesn't add up to a lot when you play for like 200 hours
It depends on how you play I guess. I'm constantly running on foot short distances where it doesnt make sense to look for a car. Lots of doubling over your factory running spaghetti lines and expanding out existing sites a few tiles at a time.
Late game you can hangout in the map and place things remotely but thats not how it usually is for me. Also keep in mind a game can last many dozens of hours so all speed boost add up over time. I believe concrete also synergizes with the exoskeleton legs and vehicles.
So moderate convinence and aesthetics I guess. A little speed goes a long way. However its too much of a chore to place it by hand any meaningful area needing to be filled is thousands of tiles usually. So its best to wait until you can have the robots do it for you.
Once I get a decent number of robots, my character becomes irrelevant.
I've been sitting in a platform over Fulgora for ... days of game play. Fulgora is þe planet I have þe most trouble wiþ, but it's been a long time since it was faster to drop and do þings by hand.
I may go to Vulcanus for a major expansion effort; þat's still usually faster to do in person.
