Gen X: "First time?" meme.

[–] MehBlah@lemmy.world 18 points 11 hours ago (2 children)

Its not like most of us care we are not mentioned in the same place these losers are.

[–] IzzyJ@lemmy.world 2 points 3 hours ago

And this is why we don't

[–] SaveTheTuaHawk@lemmy.ca 12 points 10 hours ago (1 children)

Exactly the point of GenX, please keep ignoring us. It's why we dress in black.

[–] snooggums@piefed.world 3 points 9 hours ago (1 children)

Is that the reason? I just prefer not to wear light colors that get visibly dirty so easily.

[–] SaveTheTuaHawk@lemmy.ca 4 points 6 hours ago

We have talked too long. Back to the batcave.

[–] Beebabe@lemmy.world 45 points 15 hours ago (2 children)

I made a millennial joke in front of my coworkers after a two month break. (They have said waaaay worse). Anyway they HR’d me and I almost got a free vacation to the grippy sock hotel. Now I keep my mouth shut. They’ll never see it coming! Assholes.

[–] MrScottyTay@sh.itjust.works 2 points 3 hours ago

That end is a bit ominous, you alright?

[–] turdcollector69@lemmy.world 4 points 6 hours ago

What was the joke and what are they not going to see coming?

My gen x ass was coming to post this exact thing. Well done.

[–] NigelFrobisher@aussie.zone 14 points 14 hours ago

Just gonna put on my plaid shirt and strum mournfully on a guitar now.

[–] sirico@feddit.uk 50 points 19 hours ago (3 children)

Generation self defined by apathy and nihilism gets overlooked?

[–] samus12345@sh.itjust.works 10 points 10 hours ago

Meh. Whatever.

[–] MehBlah@lemmy.world 6 points 11 hours ago (1 children)

Right here, right now. Watching the world wake from history.

[–] TheFinn@discuss.tchncs.de 1 points 6 hours ago (1 children)

More like replaying history but yeah

[–] MehBlah@lemmy.world 2 points 5 hours ago

It always is and and always will be. It was meant as a comment on how every generation when its young looks around and thinks that its time to change things and 'this' generation is going to do something. Every generation throws a hero up the pop charts.

[–] yakko@feddit.uk 37 points 18 hours ago (1 children)

Generation "Mentions not getting mentioned any time people talk about generations"

[–] DragonTypeWyvern@midwest.social 11 points 9 hours ago (1 children)

Generation bitches and whines about being ignored while being the largest voting bloc behind the return of fascism

[–] yakko@feddit.uk 12 points 9 hours ago (1 children)

I just wish most gen x were actually disaffected and alienated and not just constantly demanding relevance. You were a latchkey kid and you have better references than us, get over it.

[–] Endymion_Mallorn@kbin.melroy.org 54 points 20 hours ago (18 children)

Where's Gen X?

Oh right. Forgotten.

[–] stupidcasey@lemmy.world 4 points 10 hours ago

X marks the spot, still looking though.

[–] PugJesus@piefed.social 27 points 20 hours ago

As my mother would say, "Whatever."

[–] balance8873@lemmy.myserv.one -3 points 7 hours ago

Not forgotten, just not relevant

Every generation thinks they invented dark and surreal humor and without fail people who should know better act likes its some new and unique thing... it's more of an anomaly IMHO if a generation doesn't do this.

[–] MummysLittleBloodSlut@lemmy.blahaj.zone 19 points 17 hours ago (2 children)

Yeah but instead of joking about suicide like a normal person, boomers write confusingly veiled songs about it and pretend they're family friendly.

Looking at you, David Bowie! Space Oddity isn't for children!

[–] RedSnt 1 points 3 hours ago

You know the sayings: "We're standing on the shoulders of giants" and "he walked so we could run" etc.

[–] AnarchistArtificer@slrpnk.net 5 points 8 hours ago (1 children)

I feel like Boomers' jokes about hating their spouse is thinly veiled suicidality jokes. Like, they're giving big "I did everything I was meant to and I hate my life" energy

I guess so, but blaming your sadness on someone you promised to love is a dick move if they never did anything wrong, and most wives never did anything wrong
