Airports across North America experienced an unexpected disruption this week after hackers blasted pro-Palestine and anti-Trump messages.

On Tuesday, the public address system at Harrisburg International Airport in Pennsylvania, as well as three across Canada (Kelowna International Airport, Victoria International Airport, and Windsor International Airport), were co-opted by the hackers, according to CNN.

The messages they played included “f**k Netanyahu and Trump” and “free, free Palestine,” as heard via a recording made at Harrisburg International.

These idiots spend half the message praising themselves and the other half just spouting profanity and phrases that won't convince anyone of anything.

If you want to actually have a chance at changing minds, just report the actual news that many Americans never see because their news sources bury it or don't report it:

  • about the continual violation of the cease fire by Israel
  • about the tortured, mutilated, and executed prisoners returned by Israel
  • about the murder of fisherman
  • about the ICE raid on the Chicago apartment where 37 adults and children were dragged naked into the street and so far they can only claim one person was possibly in the country illegally
  • play the audio of ICE tear gassing normal people, including an infant, who saw there was a vehicle collision between an ICE vehicle and another car and approached the scene
  • play the audio of ICE shattering the window of a car with an infant in it and the mother screaming in terror
  • about the outrageous lengths Trump's lackeys are going to to prevent disclosure of the Epstein files
  • about the promise of $40 billion to Argentina to prop up a right-wing ideologue and what that could buy every taxpayer in the country, followed immediately by how they can't find the money to extend health care benefits
  • about the build up of forces in the Caribbean in what is clearly a build up to war with Venezuela

Et cetera. Americans who are in their bubble need to be disturbed out of their bubble.

It's probably closer to legality than the Executive branch ordering presidency propaganda there.

Gotta love how quickly the security theater of the TSA disappears as soon as a few tech savy folk get angry. Realll secure airport ya have there.

[–] Ilovethebomb@sh.itjust.works 51 points 3 days ago (1 children)

I was thinking this is more of a prank than a security threat, but you could actually cause serious problems with malicious announcements over the PA.

[–] AA5B@lemmy.world 26 points 3 days ago (1 children)

I hope it was an external prank. This is too likely an internal job, which narrows the list if suspects a lot

Sometimes all the hacking you really need is to notice the sticky note on an employees desk has the security wifi password written on it.

Try the adress of the building

[–] frosty99c@midwest.social 34 points 3 days ago (1 children)

I mean, I love that this happened, but it was at 1 minor US airport and 3 minor Canadian airports (non-TSA). From the article this doesn't seem like a widespread thing, unfortunately.

Half the message was self promotion as well.

[–] frog_brawler@lemmy.world 25 points 3 days ago

There’s a lot of angry developers that have been recently laid off. I’m not surprised at all.

[–] TheCriticalMember@aussie.zone 92 points 3 days ago (2 children)

Oh man, if only there were some kind of Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency to help protect against this sort of thing...

[–] BassTurd@lemmy.world 36 points 3 days ago

I have been really upset that this theoretical governing body had a good chunk of its theoretical work force let go under this fascist regime. If what comes from that is anti trump messaging hacks, then that would be such a wonderful turn of events. It won't be the only thing, but it may be the best.

[–] mlg@lemmy.world 18 points 3 days ago

Or some kind of National Instituion of Standards and Technology

[–] YoiksAndAway@piefed.zip 68 points 3 days ago (2 children)

Anon used to be all over this shit. It's good to see hacktivism again.

[–] lka1988@sh.itjust.works 28 points 3 days ago (4 children)

"Anonymous" is not an organized group. It can be literally anyone.

[–] explodicle@sh.itjust.works 12 points 2 days ago

Nope sorry you need a mask licensed by Warner Brothers.

[–] MrFinnbean@lemmy.world 9 points 3 days ago

Well its very loosely organized group. But i feel like anons get credited less for these things than they used to be, so saying they are less active is not wrong.

[–] balance8873@lemmy.myserv.one 7 points 2 days ago

Don't be ridiculous, anonymous is just banksy

[–] INHALE_VEGETABLES@aussie.zone 2 points 2 days ago (1 children)

I remember when they hacked an epilepsy website and made it flashing colours.

[–] piecat@lemmy.world 4 points 2 days ago

I remember the "bleach and ammonia diamonds". Fucked up

[–] RampantParanoia2365@lemmy.world 12 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Apparently "all across North America" means one in the US and 3 in Canada. Technically true, I suppose.

[–] III@lemmy.world 3 points 2 days ago

Me's all across the globe share your observation.

[–] melsaskca@lemmy.ca 2 points 1 day ago

It's probably those fascists or anti-fascists or whatever the hell the anti-donnies are called.
