~ 5. Keep posts to a limit. We all love Star Trek stuff but 3-4 posts in an hour is plenty enough.

Being Asian, I did a silly Harry Kim costume at STLV this year that I called EHK. Got my hair styled just like Garrett from “Unamatrix Zero, Part 1”. Garrett says on the podcast that was the best his hair ever looked in the series. He was amused when I told him this.

Garrett also loved my EHK; asked for a photo of me and a video explaining it. So all I did was dress up in the early 2370s uniform, wear an ensign pip and slap a mobile emitter (Fansets released a new mobile emitter at STLV which was super popular). Emergency Harry Kim: activate when you need an ensign to disappoint. Ironically the Starfleet Academy trailer had been released two weeks earlier.

Then you also have "The D-Con Chamber" by Dominic Keating and Connor Trinneer, who played Malcom and Trip in Enterprise.

They do the same thing but but currently focus on Enterprise.

[–] dharmacurious@slrpnk.net 12 points 3 days ago (2 children)

Oh I'm checking this out! Minority opinion, I know, but Ent is my second favorite trek

[–] stoy@lemmy.zip 11 points 3 days ago

They have video episodes on YT, interesting to see

[–] SpaceNoodle@lemmy.world 1 points 3 days ago (1 children)

Oof

I might place season 4 up there, but TNG? DS9? SNW?

[–] dharmacurious@slrpnk.net 14 points 3 days ago (1 children)

Can't help it. Love it. Love Trip, love T'pol, Phlox is life, and the theme song fucking slaps. Humanity at odds with the Vulcans? The andorian plotlines? An actual feeling of newness and discovery? It's so good.

DS9 is still my favorite, though

[–] SpaceNoodle@lemmy.world 5 points 3 days ago (1 children)

Theme song nearly ruined the entire show. Absolute horseshit.

The whole Xindi arc and time travel bullshit was just overplayed ass.

Agreed that there were some top-notch characters, especially Trip and Shran.

[–] dharmacurious@slrpnk.net 14 points 3 days ago (2 children)

I respect your opinion, and fundamentally disagree. You're never going to convince me it wasn't great. But I do get why people didn't like it. It just happened to sit really well with me, until the last episode which didn't actually happen and was never filmed nor aired. Nope. Nuh uh

[–] thessnake03@lemmy.world 4 points 2 days ago (1 children)

What are you talking about? Terra Prime was a great finale.

[–] dharmacurious@slrpnk.net 2 points 2 days ago

You're right. I must have been remembering a fever dream

[–] SpaceNoodle@lemmy.world 2 points 3 days ago

Nope, not allowed. You take that stance, you own that bullshit final episode that was so ridiculous that I had actually completely forgotten about it until you just brought it up.

Thanks fam, I’m gonna check it out. Love me some ENT 😎

Thanks for sharing

I've recommended it before but Improvised Star Trek is really great (if you're into comedy podcasts, that is). It's set in the TNG/DS9 era and they obviously have a lot of love for Trek. Some of the first episodes are a bit rough around the edges but I've listened all the way through multiple times. Can't recommend enough.

[–] zaphodb2002@sh.itjust.works 4 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Oh IST is maybe my favorite podcast, I miss it so. Canonical Star Trek as far as I'm concerned. If you like Lower Decks you'll like IST. Lt. Greg and Ensign Spot live forever in my heart.

[–] DamienGramatacus@lemmy.world 1 points 2 days ago

"Canonical Star Trek as far as I'm concerned"

One hundred percent. I also miss it so. Nothing else quite scratches that (ensign) spot.

[–] hazardous_area@sh.itjust.works 10 points 3 days ago (2 children)

If y’all like Star Trek podcasts, I do like what the team at greatest gen puts out. Especially the TNG stuff.

[–] zaphodb2002@sh.itjust.works 7 points 3 days ago (1 children)

Hello, fellow Friend of DeSoto!

Best captain I ever had lol

[–] Skullgrid@lemmy.world 1 points 2 days ago

My wife is fucking obsessed. they do pretty good, but I was disappointed they didn't hit the full potential on some epsiodes (I wanted far more prank call jokes when I listened to the Wrongs Darker Than Death or Night (DS9) ep

[–] aeronmelon@lemmy.world 7 points 3 days ago (1 children)

Throwing Random Trek into the ring. It has been going for a long time so it has an extensive back catalog already. Every week a random episode from the Star Trek franchise is chosen by the host as well as a “random” guest to discuss it.

[–] rooroo@feddit.org 2 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Waiiit every week? Is my feed not up to date? The latest episode in mine is from August 2024 and I’m desperate for new ones!

[–] aeronmelon@lemmy.world 3 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago) (1 children)

It appears to have gone on break last September. But that doesn’t make the existing episodes any less relevant.

https://the-incomparable.fandom.com/wiki/Random_Trek_In_Order

There are still many episodes left just within the series that the podcasts covers. So hopefully Scott will star making new episodes again soon.

[–] rooroo@feddit.org 1 points 2 days ago

Okay at least my feed isn’t messed up.

However, Scott has been good with The Vulcan Hello on new (live-action) Trek, with Jason Snells (sp?), the seemingly most-often “random” guest! So there’s a suggestion for you if you didn’t know.

[–] verity_kindle@sh.itjust.works 7 points 3 days ago (2 children)

I prefer "The People Vs. Star Trek Voyager"

[–] sundray@lemmus.org 5 points 3 days ago (1 children)

"The Delta Quadrant vs. Capt. Janeway"

[–] verity_kindle@sh.itjust.works 2 points 2 days ago

They have no jurisdiction! They will never have justice! Starfleet protects its own!

[–] grue@lemmy.world 3 points 3 days ago

I've seen them at Dragon*Con a couple of times! Pretty entertaining, though I haven't gotten around to listening to the rest of their podcasts.

[–] RustyShackleford@lemmy.zip 5 points 3 days ago
[–] dharmacurious@slrpnk.net 4 points 3 days ago

This sounds amazing!

[–] ummthatguy@lemmy.world 4 points 3 days ago

I'd gone through a few episodes of The Shuttlepod Show, but got distracted. Looks like this is basically the next iteration of that idea.

[–] teft@piefed.social -5 points 3 days ago (2 children)

Talk radio is dumb even if they are talking about star trek.

I'd rather just watch some episodes instead of listening to the actors talk about the episodes.

[–] CarbonatedPastaSauce@lemmy.world 10 points 3 days ago (2 children)

Thanks for coming into this podcast thread to let everyone know you hate podcasts.

[–] Honytawk@feddit.nl 3 points 3 days ago

It is still just a general Star Trek sub

[–] teft@piefed.social -2 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago) (2 children)

This is a star trek post in a star trek community where i’m a prolific commenter. I’m not worried about a few downvotes from people disagreeing with me. I’ll comment on any thread with my thoughts because that’s how i am. You can do the same.

[–] CarbonatedPastaSauce@lemmy.world 1 points 2 days ago (2 children)

It’s really not about the downvotes, it’s about antisocial behavior.

[–] MrPoopyButthole@lemmy.world 3 points 2 days ago

I hate people who can't handle an opposing view. Group think and echo chambers are toxic no matter what the topic is.

[–] teft@piefed.social 3 points 2 days ago

Commenting on threads on the internet isn't antisocial behavior.

Neither is someone stating their opinions.

[–] QueenMidna@lemmy.ca 0 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Really? "Prolific commenter"?

[–] teft@piefed.social 2 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago)

You can look at my history on lemmy.world or here on piefed. It's one of the communities I frequently comment in and lots of the other regular posters recognize me so yes, I'd say I'm a prolific commenter.

[–] tigeruppercut@lemmy.zip 2 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Yeah, I also hate learning extra information about something I enjoy, and would prefer to only have the same information repeated at me instead.

[–] teft@piefed.social 2 points 2 days ago

Unironically yes. Star trek is my comfort show.
