Witches vs Patriarchy

1 users here now

r/WitchesVsPatriarchy is a nonbinary-centered sub with a witchy twist, aimed at healing, supporting, and uplifting one another through humor and magic.

The goal is to at once embrace, and poke fun at, the mystical aspects of androgyny that have been previously demonized and/or devalued by the Patriarchy.

This subreddit is a Safe Space for Trans, Nonbinary, Gay, A/Bisexual, Intersex, and GNC people and BIPOC. We are Siblings, not Cisters. If you do not consider yourself an ally, then this community is not for you.

“Ms O’Connor converted to Islam in 2018 and changed her name to Shuhada Sadaqat, though continued to perform under the name Sinead O’Connor.”

That’s utterly bizarre. Thought she was against the church and child abuse.

Yeah what? She is seen fighting patriarchy but joins one of the most oppressive religions

[–] BroBot9000@lemmy.world 21 points 2 years ago

Exactly. Seems so bizarre to me. I’ll rip a picture of the pope because of child abuse but then I’ll join a religion that prays to a deity that took a child bride at 6 and consummated the marriage when she was 9…

She was never the most stable of people.

She was against the church at least, not sure about against abuse...

Proves that she's not against child abuse but against just Christianity

Aw, no... I remember the backlash to the event pictured, and not nearly as much talk about why she did it. A few days later she faced down an angry crowd and was comforted by Kris Kristofferson.

10-15 years later the allegations were mainstream news, proving to many doubters she was right years before. Hope she's at peace.

@HardlightCereal@lemmy.world I want to offer to mod here. I quite like and know the community back from the old place and I'm happy to see it getting active.

Heads up this community has zero association with the mods of r/WitchesVsPatriarchy, and the reddit mods want to make it clear they don't want to be associated due to this: https://raddle.me/f/lobby/168609/so-apparently-i-m-an-enbyphobic-enby-according-to-this

More evidence is available in the TOSBreaches threads on raddle. You don't need an account to read them.
