Was this an unintentiona I-made-my-own-still poisoning?

Could be. These were tourists partying while traveling. Likely from wealthy families so it's not like they couldn't afford regular booze. But that doesn't mean someone didn't come by with bad shit just giving it away for fun, unknowingly killing people. I highly doubt this was in any way intentional.

I mean, I'll never drink liquor in a developing nation because of this and many similar cases in other countries. You only get methanol from distilling spirits, so I'll stick to wine and beer when overseas. It's horrible that it has to be this way, but it's the safest route.

Eh live a little. If the locals are drinking it it's fine. This is a very unlikely fuck up. Whoever made that booze is probably guilt and grief stricken. I can't imagine how they feel, if they aren't dead themselves.

It's a big deal because it's a bunch of white people who died.

More Lao kids will die this year from unexploded ordinance left over from an undeclared war where the US dropped a planeload of bombs on the country every eight minutes around the clock, every single day, for nine years.

Oh look the loser Biden administration is in Laos right now and refusing to even mention it because "muh China." https://www.aljazeera.com/news/2024/11/21/us-secret-war-remembered-as-secretary-of-defense-lloyd-austin-visits-laos
