Send them this. I'm sure they will get it.

I don't know about OpenAI, but Gemini is pretty bad and so is Google AI.

If you use a pretty good AI, they can be helpful. Even though I don't take AI advice at face value, I use it for stock projections mainly and search for earnings report schedule of specific companies. I also use AI to hunt leads for the next potential stocks to invest. Again, I don't take its responses as fool proof, I research before diving in head first.

AI is mainly a tool to help, not be a substitute to do your own work, at least not in its current incarnation.

I wasn't aware about this with regards to mobile phone tbf. I know you are spied upon on your phone camera, but mapping the house with the phone? Do you mean like Dark Knight stuff?

When I was growing up, my mom loves using the phrase which would roughly translates to "while you are still going forward, I'm turning back", which is a thought terminating cliché to mean do as she says because she has experience. She doesn't say it as much as she used to because she regrets having been a strict parent. But if she pulls that line again, I have a comeback ready to tell her "you've turned back, but the environment you grew up in changed".

If it helps someone to reform or cope with adversities, so long as they don't shove their religions down our throats, why not? I see religions the same as new age mumbo jumbos.

Aside from trying to explain natural phenomena, experts believe that religion evolved to also serve as natural antidepressant. It has been observed that religiosity spike after cataclysmic events. Religion also offers community and belonging which is important for mental health and well being. Many inmates reform after embracing religion.

I would say that religion has grown to have limited utility in the modern age. It is dangerous on the wider society but has limited help to small groups and individuals. Religions and new age beliefs are exactly the same that it maybe beneficial to some individuals, so long as dogma isn't shoved.

Although my mom stigmatise pre-marital sex, thankfully my parents are quite chill in terms of religiosity. I have had initial pangs of cognitive dissonance, like most of those who questioned their beliefs, but my eventual dissociation has been relatively smooth. I'm aware that those who had more extreme religious upbringing find it difficult to escape, so to speak.

I remember reading a blog from a religious woman many years ago, in which she shared her experience of feeling guilty after having sex on her wedding night. Because throughout her entire life, sex had been vilified for her and when she consummated her marriage, she felt dirty and sinful. It took a long while for her to get over the guilt. Also, those who know about Chris Stuckmann, the movie critic, and his experience in Jehovah's Witness forbidding him to make any films for extreme religious reasons, which made him depress in his teenage years.

I know religion can be beneficial to some, but more often than not it is more cancerous to most people. There is a reason that religiosity is declining across the world save for some.

It took me awhile to understand the punchline (god is saying the speed of light is 1 dumbass, not calling the person a dumbass as I first thought). Does that mean the speed of light is slow?

What does Muslim have to do with bacons being carcinogenic?

Just because you don't live under a tyrannical government doesn't mean others don't as well.

I've been using the term "Tory" as a pejorative. I was gleefully happy when I found out tory (tóraí) in Irish means "outlaw", which the Tories imho.

It seems to be a pitfall of the thinking "it can't happen here."

I'm non-American myself but I am an Asian who immigrated to Europe. The news and social media here show the US imploding under Trump regime. My cousin immigrated to the US, but I am surprised that he doesn't know about the wanton ICE arrests and harassment of anyone who is of foreign origin, even white foreigners and tourists. Initially, he said that "only illegals are getting arrested", but was equally surprised or nonplussed when I told him about what is happening. Well, he's already there, and I did tell him to be careful just in case.

Maybe I should not be surprised because news in my home country generally put the US in pedestal. Since the end of World War II, people feel like we owe the US a lot after being liberated from Japanese occupation, even though we ourselves were formerly a US colony. So, the local media tend to portray the US as a pristine and perfect society. But my compatriots residing in the US say it is overrated, depending where you are, because of rampant homelessness, no social welfare and worsening cost of living crisis. Now, that I think about it, the local media never really portrayed those about the US when I was growing up. Of course, US is still miles ahead than any given developing country in terms of standard of living, but still overrated I understand.

I see this from handful of people who are either immigrants or part of traditionally marginalised backgrounds. It's stupid and pathetic, it reeks of desperation, and you are not going to be spared because bigots don't care.

Truly living up to their tankie label.

According to Bloomberg, names like Mark Zuckerberg, Safra Catz, and Jamie Dimon all dumped massive blocks of stock while prices were still high. By the time Trump rolled out new tariffs on April 2, tech stocks had already started bleeding. Every one of those early sellers dodged a bullet, and the timing is loud as hell.

Executives sold billions as Trump’s tariffs loomed

The first quarter wasn’t quiet. Trump’s team hinted at sweeping tariffs leading up to April 2, a day he branded as “Liberation Day.” That threat shook investors. By the time the announcement dropped, billions had already been erased from global markets. The tech world felt it the hardest. Elon Musk reportedly lost $129 billion this year as stocks tied to phones, chips, and software kept slipping. A few billionaires are already buying the dip, but plenty have already made their exit.

There is more to life you know? When will liberals learn.

Edit: I changed the title so that people will understand what I am getting at. It is important to realise that economic anxiety trumps other concerns, especially in the growing wealth inequality and the overt shows of oligarchic rule. As Franklin Roosevelt said: People who are hungry and out of a job are the stuff of which dictatorships are made.

As everyone knows, Reddit is cannibalising itself and the longer time goes on, the users will have deleted their accounts and/or migrated to somewhere else, or they will simply forget about their accounts and log-in details.

Why would they want to win anyway? When they are already winning from so much corporate donations???!!!
